The art of gluing a single pattern from separate parts is called collage. To create a harmonious composition from fragments of old magazines, scraps of wrapping paper and tram tickets, it is enough to stock up on paints, glue and be guided by a sense of proportion and color.

Instructions

Step 1

Come up with a subject for your drawing. Define the idea that you want to express, then choose the appropriate composition, shape of the main elements and an approximate color scheme.

Step 2

Prepare the base for your collage. The size of the sheet should be large enough to accommodate all the details conceived. The main requirement for the base is rigidity. This can be watercolor paper or cardboard, which will take up multiple coatings with paint and glue. You can use a colored backing or decorate it yourself.

Step 3

If you brought white paper or cardboard, stick scraps of newspaper, tickets from public transport, bills from cafes on it. Arrange these pieces in any order. Then select a shade of acrylic suitable for the base of the collage on the palette. Dilute it with water and apply a translucent layer to the paper. It will visually combine many pasted elements.

Step 4

Create each object separately to fill the collage. Cut out some of the pictures from magazines, advertising brochures and old textbooks. The rest of the objects in the figure can be supplemented with a complex texture and color. Cut strips of equal length and width from magazine pages. Paste them alternately on a blank sheet of paper to create an unreadable surface with no clear pattern. Flip the sheet over to the wrong side and draw on it the outline of the object that should be on the collage, and then cut it out.

Step 5

Similarly, collect pieces of paper of different texture, thickness, color on a sheet. On the front side, draw any object with a pencil, gel pen or ink.

Step 6

Place the main elements of the picture on the base without gluing. Check if they match well, if you need to change the composition. If the result suits you, glue the parts, lubricating them with an even layer of PVA glue or transparent all-purpose glue.

Step 7

Complete the composition by sticking dried flowers and leaves, colored threads, beads on the drawing.
