Branko Djurić is a Bosnian actor, screenwriter, director and musician, better known as Juro. In 2001 he was nominated for the European Film Academy Award for his role in the film No Man's Land.
The actor was born and raised in Sarajevo. But after the outbreak of an international armed conflict between Serbia and Herzegovina, he left the country and moved to Slovenia.
Djuric became very popular in the country after participating in the comedy variety show "Top lista nadrealista", which has been on the screens since 1984. He then co-founded the music group SCH and frontman of the award-winning band Bombaj Stampa.
In the creative biography of Juro, there are more than 40 roles in television and film projects. In the 2000s, he took part in the creation of several films as a screenwriter and director.
He currently lives in Ljubljana and continues his creative career.

Biography facts
Djuric was born in Yugoslavia in the spring of 1962. His mother is from Bosnia and his father is from Serbia. When the boy was only one year old, his father died suddenly. For a long time, the mother had to be engaged in raising her son and making money alone.
After 13 years, my mother got married again. The artist Branko Popvaca became her husband. He got along well with the boy. Stepfather gradually instilled in Djurich a love of art and creativity and helped develop artistic talents.
During his school years, the young man attended a music school and a creative studio, where he studied acting. He liked public speaking and, having received his secondary education, Branko decided to become a professional actor.
He tried to enter the University of Sarajevo at the Academy of Performing Arts (ASU) performing arts department, but the competitive selection did not pass. Then Djuric applied to the Faculty of Journalism and in 1981 became a university student.
The young man did not give up his dream of becoming an artist. He started looking for work in television. Soon he got the opportunity to appear in television productions in cameo roles.
For 2 years, he again tried to enter the acting department, but each time he did not pass the competitive selection. Only in 1984 did his dream come true: he was enrolled in the faculty of ASU.
Juro joined the new television show "Top lista nadrealista", which aired in 1984 shortly before entering the university. The program consisted of performances by folk music performers and comedians performing short humorous scenes. Branko quickly joined the cast and got a great chance to showcase his musical and acting talents.
During the same period, the young man got a small role in a new musical television program and starred in a video clip.
Having met on the set with director Ademir Kenovich, the young man complained that he could not get into the new performing faculty and had not passed the competitive selection for 2 years. Kenovich sent Branko to his friend, who took up his preparation for the entrance exams. Thanks to these efforts, in 1984 Branko became a student of the Academy of Performing Arts.
Film career
In 1986, director Ademir Kenovic, already familiar to Djuric, invited the novice actor to shoot his television drama project "Ovo malo duse". The painting told the story of a boy growing up in a Bosnian village after World War II.
After 2 years, Branko took part in the fantastic drama "Time of the Gypsies" by the famous director Emir Kusturica.
The plot of the film tells about a young man named Perhan, who has an amazing ability to move objects with his eyes. He lives with his grandmother, who is known as a local healer who cures many diseases. Perhan has an uncle who is an avid gambler and a disabled sister. The young man meets his first love and is going to marry, but the girl's parents do not want to marry her to poor Perhan. To earn money for a wedding, build a new house and cure his sister, he travels to Italy with the gypsy baron Ahmet.
The film was shown at the 1989 Cannes Film Festival. Kusturica received the main prize for directorial work, and the picture itself was nominated for the Golden Palm. The film was also nominated for the Cesar and the European Film Academy awards.
In 2001, Djurić starred in the military drama No Man's Land directed by Danis Tanovic. The plot of the picture unfolds during the war between Serbs and Bosnians. Lost in the fog, the Bosnian squad finds themselves in front of their opponents in the morning. A battle ensues, after which three wounded soldiers remain in a trench in neutral territory: two Bosnians and a Serb. One of them lies on a mine and if he makes even one awkward movement, it will explode. Sworn enemies need to make a decision and try to survive.
In 2002, the film won the Oscar and Golden Globe awards in the Best Foreign Film category. The young debutant Denis Tanovich won the Cesar Prize. Branko Djurić received a nomination for the European Academy Award. The film also won the Audience Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival.

Branko was married twice. Who was his first wife is unknown.
The second chosen one in 2000 was actress Tanya Ribich, whom the actor met on the set. The couple are raising two daughters, Zala and Elu. Dzhuric has a son Philip from his first marriage.
Currently, the performer lives with his family in Ljubljana and is the director of the production company "Theater 55".
