Biography
Rene Aubergeonois was born on June 1, 1940 in New York, USA. His father, Fernand Auberjonois (1910-2004), was a Swiss-born, Cold War foreign correspondent and Pulitzer Prize-nominated writer.
Rene's paternal grandfather was a Swiss Post-Impressionist painter. The actor's mother, Princess Laura Louise Napoleon Eugenie Caroline Murat (Laure Louise Napoleone Eugenie Caroline Murat, 1913-1986), was the great-great-granddaughter of Joachim Murat, one of Napoleon's marshals. It is also known that the great-great-great-grandmother of Rene Aubergeonois was the youngest sister of Napoleon Bonaparte - Caroline Bonaparte. And the great-great-grandmother of Rene Oberjonois, the mother of his maternal grandfather, was the Russian noblewoman Somova Evdokia Mikhailovna.
The actor had a brother and sister, as well as two half-sisters from his mother's first marriage. After World War II, his family moved to Paris. The actor died on December 8, 2019 at his Los Angeles home after a long battle with lung cancer. At the time of his death, he was 79 years old.
