The picture placed on the wall should fit into the overall interior of the room. It can "dissolve" in a color scheme or be a bright accent that catches the eye. But any item needs proper care. Pictures are harmful to direct sunlight and high humidity. They must not be hung next to radiators. There are several ways to refresh already dirty canvases and frames at home.

It is necessary

  • - soft cloths;
  • - cotton pads;
  • - turpentine oil;
  • - soft brush;
  • - protein and milk;
  • - sponge;
  • - ammonia;
  • - bread crumb;
  • - liquid soap.

Instructions

Step 1

Remove dust from the front and back of the painting with a soft dry cloth, a special brush, or a shaving brush. Use this method regularly when cleaning your apartment.

Step 2

For serious dirt, separate the painting from the frame. Position the painting so that the canvas does not squeeze when cleaning.

Step 3

Check how the contaminated painting reacts to the cleaning agent. Do this operation at the very edge of the canvas, in the place where it will be covered by the frame. For oil and watercolor paintings, there are different ways to remove dirt. Be sure to consider this point so as not to damage the drawing.

Step 4

To clean a watercolor painting, roll up a few lumps of brown bread crumb. Use them to clean the dirty areas of the canvas, as if you were holding an eraser. As soon as the crumb gets dirty, take a fresh one and continue working.

Step 5

Use turpentine oil to clean oil paintings. It can be purchased from shops that sell art supplies. Take a cotton ball and dampen it with this mild solvent. After you check the effect of the product in the corner of the painting, gently begin to wipe the entire surface with short strokes. Inspect the cotton pad all the time so that there are no pieces of adhering paint on it. If you find it, then stop cleaning immediately.

Step 6

Whisk the egg white, add a teaspoon of milk to it. Dip a cotton pad in this mixture, wipe the drawing made with oil paints. Then take a soft cloth and blot the painting dry.

Step 7

Whip up the lather. Picking it up with a sponge, wipe the greasy stains on the oil painting. Remove soap immediately with a clean, slightly damp cloth and blot dry. If there are cracks on the canvas, then moisture is contraindicated for it.

Step 8

Dampen a cotton ball with hydrogen peroxide and wipe the white areas of the painting. Then blot them immediately with a dry cloth.

Step 9

Choose a new frame for the picture or update the old one. Wipe the gilded baguette on old frames with a sponge dipped in ammonia.

Step 10

Store watercolors in glass frames. Oil paintings can be varnished in special workshops.
