The tunic appeared in ancient Rome, it was worn by both women and men. Now it is a popular item of women's wardrobe, especially crocheted beach tunics.
Pattern construction and yarn selection
The cut of the tunic is quite simple. This is a rectangle with a neckline. To make a pattern, measure the circumference of your hips, divide the measurement by 2 and add 5-10 cm to it, depending on how loose you want to knit the thing. Build a rectangle with a length equal to the desired tunic length and a width according to your calculations. In the upper left corner, draw a line for the neckline.
For knitting, select 300 g of cotton or mixed yarn of medium thickness (about 95-100 m in a skein of 50 g). You will also need scissors, a hook number 3, 5, a sewing machine, threads to match the yarn.
One of the simplest crochet stitches is a mesh pattern. Despite its simplicity and uncomplicatedness, a tunic knitted in this way looks very impressive, especially if you pick up bright yarn in fashionable shades. Calculate the number of stitches you need to knit. Cast on a chain of 15 loops (this amount will make 3 rapports and 3 lifting air loops).
In the first row, knit all the loops with double crochets. In the second - a column with three crochets in every fourth loop of the previous row and 3 air lifting loops. In the third, knit the first column with three crochets in the second loop, and knit the rest every 4 loops of the previous row. Continue knitting from rows 2 to 4. As a result, the knitting density should be 20 loops and 5 rows in a 10x10 cm sample. If the value is larger, take a smaller hook, if less, then on the contrary - a larger one.
Knitting of the back and front of the tunic
Tie a chain of 117 stitches (for sizes 46-48) and stretch it over the pattern. Adjust the number of stitches in the typesetting row, but note that for a mesh pattern, the number must be a multiple of 4 plus 3 lifting air loops.
Next, turn the knitting over and knit straight without deductions and increases to the neckline. Apply knitted fabric to the pattern periodically. Then knit the part separately, knitting the neckline. Perform the front part in the same way.
Assembling the product
Fold the front and back of the crocheted tunic with the right sides inward and sew the side and shoulder seams on the sewing machine. Tie the armholes and neckline with a "crustacean step".
Wet the tunic. Attach to the pattern and flatten the canvas. Let the garment dry in a horizontal position on a smooth and level surface.
