The tunic dress is in demand in any season due to its versatility. It can be combined with trousers and shorts, fit into a casual style or used separately as a cocktail outfit. In order for a tunic dress to meet all your needs, sew it yourself, taking into account the peculiarities of the figure and preferences in the choice of fabric.
Instructions
Step 1
Draw a vertical line AB on the pattern paper. It is equal to the distance from the neckline down to the desired length of the tunic.
Step 2
Calculate the half-girth of the hips, add 3 centimeters to the resulting number and set aside this distance on the segment BV (it is perpendicular to AB).
Step 3
The width of the neck can exceed the girth of the head by 2-3 cm or be much larger so that the tunic falls from one shoulder. Having decided on this value, put point G.
Step 4
From it, set aside the length of the sleeve so that it goes beyond the wrist line by 1.5-2 cm. Draw this line (DG) at a slight angle - at the level of the middle of the segment, step back 2.5 cm and draw a line through the found point to the wrist.
Step 5
Designate the width of the sleeve with the letters ДД1. At the base, this value is measured along the figure - from the waistline to where the sleeve should begin. Since the tunic implies a loose fit, the sleeve can be made wide. Smoothly round the junction of the sleeve with the main panel.
Step 6
Cut out the pattern and use pins to pin it to the fabric, then circle it with chalk. Cut out the tunic pieces, leaving 3 cm of seam allowance.
Step 7
Treat the neckline with a bias tape, tuck the hem and baste it by hand, do the same with the cuffs, after which it will be possible to lay these seams on a typewriter and connect the tunic parts.
