The Xbox 360 console has become a kind of trendsetter for gaming devices. The recognizable gamepad gained significant popularity among users, and therefore began to be used not only on the console itself, but also for playing on a PC. Microsoft itself contributed to this by releasing a special series of drivers that make device configuration more comfortable.

Step 1
Setting up a controller on Xbox 360 is not implied. If the device is working properly, then immediately after connection it will begin to respond to keystrokes according to the prompts indicated on the screen. You can customize the joystick in detail "for yourself" only in the "Options" menu of specific games. In most cases, you will be allowed to change the action keys (the movement remains fixed to the sticks), invert the camera's axis of rotation, and adjust the sensitivity.
Step 2
To use your Xbox controller on a PC, you need to install the driver package. You can find them on the disc supplied with the device, or on the official Microsoft website.
Step 3
The driver comes with a configurator program. When you launch it, a gamepad image and three square fields will appear on the screen. Pressing any key of the device should be reflected on the screen - a similar image key will be highlighted. Stick and D-pad movements are tracked in white boxes.
Step 4
Not all PC games support the Xbox controller. Basically, this problem is typical for products released before 2008 - they are guided by other device standards. If the joystick is not recognized, then you should install a patch that solves the compatibility problem: these can be found on the game forums in the technical support section. Confirmation of compatibility with the Xbox gamepad is the Games for Windows inscription located on the box with the game.
Step 5
The default gaming device is always the keyboard. This means that before the gamepad takes over the functions of the controller, you need to select the option "Control with a gamepad" in the game menu "Options" -> "Control settings". If you plan to play together with a friend, then set one of the users "keyboard", the second - a joystick.
Step 6
The configuration of the control keys is similar to the configuration on the Xbox 360: you will be allowed to change the layout, stick sensitivity and inversion of the view.
