Instructions
Step 1
Cut eight strands of floss of the same length in the same color, which will be used to weave the letters, and then cut five strands of the same length in the other background color. One of these threads should be longer than the others - this thread will be the main thread.
Step 2
In order for this thread to be enough to braid the entire bauble, you can use a whole skein without cutting it off. Lay out the threads in the correct order - there should be two background threads on the left, then all eight threads of a different color, on the right again two background threads, plus a long working thread. Tie the ends of the threads into a knot and secure with a pin.
Step 3
Start tying the threads from right to left with a working thread with simple knots. Once tied to the left edge, continue to knit the next row, tying the threads from left to right. Repeat these steps until you increase the desired length of the background canvas. Unlike ordinary baubles, the knot lines in this weaving technique do not lie diagonally, but exactly horizontally.
Step 4
Now start weaving the letters of the name - for convenience, you can draw a diagram in advance to distribute the knots that make up the letters along the length and width of the baubles. Use a working thread to make a row of knots to the right, then stop at one of the knots and make a knot on the main thread with a different color, guiding the knot to the opposite left side. Thus, keeping an eye on the location of the letter knots in the pattern, weave the first row of the first letter.
Step 5
The knots with the contrasting thread with which you knit the letters should always go against the direction of the knots of the working thread. If the working thread knots from right to left, the knots of the letter should go from left to right and vice versa.
Step 6
Tighten the knots tightly and make them neat and uniform so that the letters are even and beautiful. When you finish weaving the name, weave a few more rows of the background color with a working thread and complete the weaving.
Step 7
For another method of weaving baubles, a diagram is required. Draw a weaving pattern on checkered paper. Each cell must correspond to one node. Use a felt-tip pen to paint over the letters and background.
Step 8
For baubles with names, straight weaving is required. It is very important to choose the right thread color depending on whether it is a letter or a background. In order to start straight weaving, take 8 blue threads for the letters and 5 green threads for the background. Other colors can be selected, if desired. But one thread for the background (in our example, green) should be longer than the others.
Step 9
First you need to tie all the threads together in one big knot and spread them according to the pattern. To make braiding easier, secure a large knot on the table with tape. Start to weave knots to the left, passing the long green thread down. To make the letters look neater and prettier, tighten each row of threads tighter.
Step 10
Now you need to return with the main thread up. To do this, on each thread, make a knot to the right. In this case, the threads should lie in a straight line, avoid diagonal displacement. Otherwise, the inscription will be difficult to read. Use the green thread to create the background. Its width depends solely on your desire. Weave a certain number of rows of the same color until you reach the row where the lettering begins.
Step 11
Start weaving the letter. Let's take the letter "A" as an example. With the main thread, we make three knots down to the left (creating a background), 4-10 threads - with the main thread to the right, then again two knots to the left. Do not forget to change the color of the thread according to the scheme, separating the letter and the background. Then we again start weaving with a thread from the bottom up. 12-8 nodules will go to the right, 7 to the left, 6-4 to the right, the next 3 to the left again.
Step 12
Again, go to weaving from top to bottom. All knots here are woven to the left, and knots 3 and 7 will go to the right. The letter "A" is almost finished. It remains to draw the main thread from bottom to top as follows: 1, 2, 3, 11, 12 knots - to the right, 4 and 10 knots - to the left. If everything is done correctly, you should get a readable letter "A".
We continue to weave the inscription, spaced between the letters so that the word is readable. It is enough to leave one or two empty passes with a green thread.
Step 13
For the third weaving method, cut 8 threads of the floss of the same color and the same length. Five threads of a different color will be used to create the background. Do not forget to make one thread longer than the rest - it will serve as the basis. To ensure that the main thread is exactly enough for the entire weaving, you can not cut it, but use a whole skein.
Step 14
We start weaving. To do this, start tying the threads with a working thread from right to left with simple knots. After knitting to the left edge, proceed to the next row. Tie it from left to right. Continue braiding until you reach the length you want. Do not forget that the lines of the knots of the weave should lie along an even horizontal line, and not diagonally.
Step 15
Let's start weaving the inscription. It will be more convenient if you draw the outline of the word in advance. This will make it easier to distribute the nodes that make up the letters across the width and length of the product. Make a row of knots from left to right with working thread. Stop at one of the nodes. Make a knot on the main thread with contrasting thread. By the same principle, keeping an eye on the location of the nodes of the letters in the drawn diagram, weave the entire first row of letters.
Step 16
The knots of the thread with which the letters are created must go in the opposite direction from the knots of the working thread. For example, if the working thread knots from left to right, the letter knots should go from right to left. The knots should be the same, neat. Tighten them tightly so that you end up with nice and even letters. When the word or name is braided, make a few more rows with working thread. Braid the canvas if required. The unique bauble is ready.
