Step 1
First, choose which hat you want to knit: winter or autumn. The type of thread depends on this. For a winter hat, take thick woolen threads, while a light autumn hat should be thin. The size of the hook also depends on the thickness of the yarn. When choosing the color of the threads, remember that you are knitting for a child, so it is better to make a hat in bright colors - red, green, yellow, orange.
Step 2
Knitting of a hat starts from the top of the head. First, tie six chain stitches and close them in a ring. After that, start the next row, knitting two in each loop of the previous one. Thus, in the second row you will already have twelve loops. The third row should have eighteen loops: in every second loop of the previous row, you will knit two. Then, in the fourth row, two loops are knitted in every third loop of the previous row. Thus, in each subsequent row, the number of loops increases by six.
Step 3
After you get to the twelfth row, knitting seventy-two loops in it, the order of knitting changes slightly. You should also have seventy-two stitches in the next row. When knitting the fourteenth row, add six again and knit seventy-eight loops, the fifteenth row repeats the fourteenth. Thus, now you will need to knit in two rows with the same number of loops.
Step 4
Do not forget to periodically try on a hat for your child. For a hat to fit well on a teenager, its width should be one hundred and forty loops. Once you have reached the desired width, stop adding loops and knit the hat until you reach the desired volume.
Step 5
You can decorate the finished hat. You can sew cat ears to the hat, knit and decorate the hat with roses, glue a thermal sticker to the knitted product.
