Night photography is a separate type of photography, very effective, but requiring special conditions. The main thing in a night photo shoot is a long exposure and immobility of the camera.

Step 1
Prepare the necessary equipment for shooting. The night mode is found in almost all modern digital compact cameras. But to get high-quality night photos in your camera, you need to manually adjust the shutter speed. In order to keep the frame from being blurry, you will need a tripod when shooting at night. It is impossible to shoot handheld in low light conditions. There are cameras that allow you to shoot handheld at shutter speeds of up to a second. In such cameras, the matrix is fixed in a magnetic field and moves with the person's hands. If your camera doesn’t have these advantages, then it is inevitable to use a tripod. Landscape photography should be done without flash, otherwise the light will only catch the foreground.
Step 2
Choose the right time and weather. Professionals advise to shoot during the so-called "regime time". It lasts 20-30 minutes after sunset, when the sky has not yet turned black, but the city street lighting is already on. In the morning, this time begins 30 minutes before sunrise, when the dark sky begins to gradually brighten. In winter, you do not need to adjust to the operating time. Low clouds reflect the lights of the city, and the sky is not so dark. As for the weather, a completely clear sky will make the shot trivial, and clouds or nebula will give the picture a zest.
Step 3
Turn on your camera and set it to manual mode. Mount the camera on a tripod, choose a composition, and point the camera at the subject.
Step 4
Select the value of the shutter speed-aperture parameters. By adjusting the shutter speed, you can achieve a wide variety of results. The longer the shutter speed (about a minute or more), the fewer objects will appear in the photo. There will be no random passers-by passing cars, only the headlights will draw a bright stripe in the picture. The city at night will turn out to be empty. It is better to shoot stationary objects with a long exposure.
Step 5
Select the lowest sensor sensitivity. Slow shutter speeds themselves add noise (graininess), so try to use the lowest ISO setting (ISO is the sensor's pixel sensitivity level).
Step 6
Set the camera to the self-timer shooting mode. Press the button and take your hands away from the camera. In the seconds the self-timer is on, the camera shake caused by your hands dies down and you get a crisp, blurry night shot.
