Instructions
Step 1
If you decide to grow geraniums at home on your own, it is better to do it with a scion. Look at a beautiful flower from your friends, ask them to break off a shoot from it and plant it at home in a pot with fertile soil. Water and new leaves will come soon.
Step 2
Or, first place the pelargonium shoot in a glass or jar of water, after a week the geranium will take root and it can be transplanted into a pot of earth. For the substrate, take a ready-made, purchased soil for flowers. Although it is quite possible to do it yourself. Mix equal parts sand, peat and garden soil. Be sure to put rubble at the bottom of the pot for drainage.
Step 3
The second way to propagate geraniums is to divide the rhizome. If someone of your friends plans to transplant a beautiful varietal pelargonium, do not miss the chance to get hold of this indoor flower at home. Ask to separate a part of the overgrown plant and plant it in a pot at home. Thus, you will immediately have blooming geraniums.
Step 4
And finally, the most difficult, but interesting way is to grow geraniums from seeds. You can buy sachets of a wide variety of varieties that you like. Sow geranium seeds in spring. Just spread them over the surface of the ground, lightly dust and spray with a spray bottle. Cover with glass or even stretch a plastic bag over the pot. This will be a greenhouse.
Step 5
Geranium seeds germinate quickly, after 10 days you will be pleased with friendly sprouts. Remove the greenhouse. Keep geraniums on a light-colored windowsill. Water without letting the soil dry out. When the geranium seedlings are old enough, plant one plant at a time in pots. Geranium grown from seeds will bloom not soon, in six months, but it will be the sort that you cannot always get with a cuttings.
