Pelargonium, which is called indoor geranium, is one of the most popular plants for indoor floriculture lovers. There are many varieties of this flower, differing in the color of leaves and flowers, miniature forms and varieties with double flowers are bred. At home, fragrant, large-flowered, ivy and zoned geraniums are grown.

Step 1
Indoor geraniums are propagated both by cuttings and seeds. Sowing pelargonium should be in January-early February. Before sowing, mix a soil of equal parts of sand, peat, turf and leafy soil and pour this mixture with a strong solution of potassium permanganate.
Step 2
Spread the seeds over the surface, sprinkle lightly with earth and cover with a transparent lid or plastic wrap. The seeds should be kept at a temperature of twenty to twenty-four degrees, removing the lid and airing the container every day. Keep the potting soil moist.
Step 3
Geranium seeds germinate within one to two weeks. After the appearance of four leaves, cut the plants into separate pots. Unlike seedlings of crops, which, when diving, deepen the cotyledon leaves, geraniums should be planted to the same depth. Seedlings are grown in a lighted room at a temperature of sixteen to eighteen degrees.
Step 4
Hybrid geraniums are best propagated by cuttings, since pelargoniums grown from seeds may not inherit the characteristics of the parent plant. For cuttings, cut a few shoots with two to three pairs of leaves. This is best done in the spring.
Step 5
Slices of cuttings should be slightly dried and sprinkled with activated carbon powder. The bottom pair of leaves is best cut off.
Step 6
Pour the settled water into a small opaque container, throw an activated carbon tablet into the water and put the cuttings in the water. Change the water every two to three days.
Step 7
After the cuttings have given roots, they can be planted in a soil mixture similar in composition to the one in which the seeds germinated. In order for pelargonium to bloom profusely, it should be kept in small pots, placed in a well-lit place. In summer, pelargonium can be taken out into the garden or onto the balcony.
Step 8
To form a lush bush, plants grown from seeds are pinched on the sixth to eighth leaf, removing the growth point. Geraniums grown from cuttings are pinched on the tenth leaf.
Step 9
At the very beginning of spring, large shoots are cut off from grown geraniums, leaving from three to five buds. This will slightly push back flowering, but will remove branches that have stretched out over the winter.
