How nice it is to grow a citrus tree with your own hands at home, for example, a room lemon! It is a beautiful tree with shiny, oblong and bright green leaves. Blooming flowers of white or cream color fill the room with an unforgettable scent. So what is the right way to grow indoor lemon?
It is necessary
- - pots;
- - expanded clay;
- - river sand;
- - film;
- - sod land;
- - humus;
- - leafy ground.
Instructions
Step 1
The indoor lemon tree can be grown from seeds or seedlings purchased from a flower shop. Remove the seeds from the purchased lemon fruits and select the largest ones, plant them in cups or small pots with prepared and moistened soil, loose and fertile (to a depth of 1.5 centimeters). To prepare it, mix one part of leafy soil, one part of sod land, one part of humus and half of coarse river sand. Pre-treat the seeds with a growth stimulant. There should be drainage holes and a layer of expanded clay at the bottom of the pot.
Step 2
Cover the pots with plastic wrap and do not water, just spray. The ambient temperature should be at least 18-20 degrees. After two or three weeks, you can contemplate the first shoots, but such a lemon will begin to bear fruit after about eight years. Place the planted lemon pots on the south side of the windowsill.
Step 3
After the sprouts have produced a second pair of leaves, remove the film. Water very carefully and in moderation, do not over-wet the soil and dry out. The water temperature should be a couple of degrees higher than room temperature. In no case do not water the plant with cold water, only with settled water. Further care comes down to top dressing, timely watering, crown formation and transplantation.
Step 4
Three months after planting, start feeding your indoor lemon once a week with a solution of organic and mineral fertilizers. For this purpose, chicken manure diluted in water in a ratio of 1:10 is very suitable. Remember, an oversupply of fertilizer is actually no better than a lack of fertilizer.
Step 5
In summer, move the container with lemon to fresh air - veranda, balcony or garden, shading from direct sunlight. In the autumn, reduce watering, add water only after the top layer of the earth dries out. Reduce feeding, this should be done no more than once a month. Reduce the air temperature to 12-15 ° C.
Step 6
It is recommended to replant a young plant twice a year, an adult lemon once every three years. At the same time, try not to damage the roots of the plant, do not shake off the ground, but transplant with a lump. Replace topsoil with fresh soil. This plant does not tolerate frequent movements, therefore it is not recommended to disturb the lemon and move it from one place to another or turn it around with a sharp movement.
