There are quite a few varieties of ficus, but the most common is Benjamin's ficus, which in turn is divided into a huge number of varieties (Boucle, Curly, Kinki, etc.). Owners of such plants are often faced with the fact that flowers shed their leaves, especially in autumn and winter. There may be several reasons for this.

If you just recently became the owner of this plant (bought it, or gave it to you) and after a short time noticed that the flower began to actively shed its foliage, then do not worry. After a few days, the ficus will adapt to the new conditions, and the problem will be solved by itself.

If the plant has been with you for a rather long time, and it abruptly and actively began to shed its leaves, then in this case, if you do not want to lose the flower, you need to take the situation seriously, analyze the reasons that could affect this process.

If your plant is more than three years old, then the dying off of a few lower leaves for it is a common thing, there is no need to worry. If the flower is very young, then you need to reconsider caring for it. For example, over-watering negatively affects this type of plant, so review this point and, if necessary, reduce the number of waterings. Remember, waterlogging of the soil for ficuses is destructive.

If foliage falls in autumn or winter, then in this case, most likely, temperature drops are to blame. If the flower is on a windowsill, watch the temperature changes in this place. If it fluctuates by more than 15 degrees, then move the plant to another place, more suitable, where temperature drops are insignificant.

Also, in some cases, all kinds of pests can cause the foliage of the ficus to fall off. Carefully inspect the plant for insects and, if you find them, then treat the flower with a special preparation for this type of pest.

Ficus foliage can fall off even with a banal lack of nutrients. To exclude this reason, do not forget to fertilize the plant in summer and spring at least once every 20 days, and in autumn and winter - once every 30-40 days.
