A small fall of leaves is the norm for an indoor tree, the loss of two or three leaves per week is completely common. But if much more crumbles, it means that not everything is in order, it is necessary to determine and eliminate the cause.
The main reasons for dropping leaves from Benjamin ficus:
- Lack of light;
- Direct sunlight;
- Cold air;
- Dry air;
- Change of place;
- Overdrying;
- Spider mite.
In cloudy weather, a plant that is far from the window suffers from a lack of lighting. Since there are few sunny days in autumn, it is advisable to take care of the backlighting of the indoor plant in advance.
In private houses, large bushes are often planted near the windows. In summer, the dense foliage of outdoor plants protects the ficus. But in the fall, after leaf fall, the sun's rays can fall on the ficus, causing burns to the leaves. It is undesirable to rearrange it, it is better to make a screen from mesh fabric that covers the ficus.
If the ficus is located near the window, which is opened for airing, some of the leaves may freeze. If the ficus cannot be removed, cover it with plastic oilcloth before airing it.

Overdrying an earthen coma also causes leaf fall. If the situation has not gone too far, regular watering for a month is enough for the ficus to recover.
The spider mite sucks liquid from the leaves, this leads to their death. You can notice it by the thin cobwebs on the bottom of the sheet. It is treated with insecticides. Prevention is a regular, about once a month, warm shower.
