Having bought a skein of fishing line, you have an important task - to rewind it onto the spool of the reel. Few of the novice anglers think about the correct winding of the line on the reel. Meanwhile, it affects both the casting distance, and the life of the line, and the likelihood of its entanglement. Based on the above, it is worth spending a little time and effort to get the correct winding.

Instructions

Step 1

It is necessary to wind the line on the spool of the reel under a certain tension, otherwise after the very first casts it will cut into the still unused lower turns, which will lead to a decrease in the casting distance and may cause the formation of a "beard", i.e. entanglement. But you do not need to apply excessive efforts - this will have a bad effect on the durability of the fishing line (cord).

Step 2

Put the bobbin with the line on a rod (pencil, screwdriver) so that the bobbin rotates freely. Fasten in a vice or ask an assistant to hold this structure in his hands.

Step 3

Attach your reel to the tackle. Pass the line through the rings of the rod and attach it to the spool, having first thrown back the bail of the line. Close the bow and start turning the spool handle. While winding, hold the line against the rod ring with two fingers to create tension. Do not hurry.

Step 4

The line wound on the spool should not reach the edge of the spool 1-2mm. Line wrapped flush with the edges, or even wider, can cause the loops to kick and tangle. If the distance to the edge of the spool is large, then the casting distance will suffer.

Step 5

If the fishing line does not lie flat and / or it is not enough, then you need to rewind the "backing" under it. This can be nylon thread, line with a diameter of 0.25-0.30mm or inserts (for example, carved from cork, hard foam, etc.) The amount of backing can be determined empirically. After winding the required amount of line on the spool spool, wind another line (which you decided to use for backing) over it up to 1-2mm to the edge of the spool. You don't need it anymore. Now you need to rewind all this to other spools and wind it on the working spool again, but in the correct order. Winding uniformity can be improved by applying the method of mirror winding of the backing and the lower, inoperative, section of the line. In those places where "humps" are formed during winding, the backing and line should form a depression and vice versa. This has to be done manually.
