Many knitting craftswomen often think about how to decorate a knitted product. They are helped by the technique of making brushes and lush pom-poms, which can decorate both children's and adult clothes. The pompom will look bright and beautiful on hats, scarves and even on shawls and home blankets, and knitting a lush pompom is very simple.
Instructions
Step 1
Find the right thread for tying the pompom. If you take multi-colored threads, the pompom will look much more interesting. It is better to choose a thick and voluminous yarn, in this case, the pom-poms will turn out to be quite large and beautiful.
Step 2
Using a compass, draw an even circle on a sheet of thick cardboard, the diameter of which is approximately equal to the diameter of the planned pompom. Draw another small circle inside the circle. Now put one sheet of cardboard on top of another and, using sharp scissors, cut out two identical parts at once along the outlined contours.
Step 3
Then carefully cut a small circle inside each piece. Through the center hole, which will then turn out, you will pass the threads. The diameter of the central hole should not exceed 2.5-3 cm.
Step 4
Fold the resulting cardboard rings together and use scissors to cut a slit from edge to hole to thread the thread inside the ring without cutting it off from the ball. Thread the end of the thread through the hole and tie the thread around the ring in a single knot to secure it, and then start wrapping the thread around the ring, pulling the thread tightly and filling the entire surface of the cardboard blank.
Step 5
Wrap as many layers of yarn as possible in a circle, since the more layers you wind, the more magnificent the finished pompom will turn out. When you notice that the thread is having difficulty going through the center hole, take scissors, slide them between the cardboard circles and carefully cut the threads in a circle, holding the blank with your fingers so that it does not fall apart.
Step 6
Spread the cardboard circles apart a little and with a separate thread tie a bundle of yarn tightly between the circles, tying a couple of strong knots. Remove the cardboard circles, then fluff up the pompom and carefully trim it on all sides, giving it an even ball shape.
