An ordinary glass bottle can be used with success in the household. For example, such a container can make a pretty nice flower vase. It's just a pity that only one flower can fit in a narrow neck. It doesn't matter, because if you wish, you can solve this problem too. To do this, you will need to saw the bottle, or rather, carefully divide it into parts.
It is necessary
- - empty glass bottle;
- - rope;
- - gasoline or kerosene;
- - copper wire;
- - bucket;
- - cold water;
- - candle;
- - matches (lighter);
- - file;
- - nippers;
- - pliers.
Instructions
Step 1
Take a glass bottle and tie it with a thin string at the level at which you expect to divide it. Pre-soak the rope abundantly in kerosene or gasoline. When choosing a string, try not to be too thick. As a last resort, use woolen thread. The thinner the string, the tighter it will adhere to the glass surface, which will provide a smoother cut.
Step 2
Pour cold water into the bottle so that it reaches exactly the level of the future cut. Make sure the string and the water level in the bottle match. If necessary, adjust the rope so that it fits evenly around the bottle around its entire diameter.
Step 3
Using a match or long wooden stick, light the rope. When the fire engulfs it entirely, a temperature difference will form (outside there will be a high temperature from burning, and inside you have cold water). A collision between hot and cold will cause the glass to burst along the line corresponding to the water level.
Step 4
For the second method, fill up a bucket full of water. Use thick copper wire to wrap the bottle along the intended cut, leaving a short tip. Using a candle flame, start heating this free tip. The entire wire will gradually become hot. Now quickly and carefully put the bottle in the bucket of water. If everything is done correctly, the glass will break exactly where the heated wire is. This method is safer than the one described above.
Step 5
If the edges of the bottle after this cut are not too even, work them with nippers or pliers, and then grind them with a sharpener or a file with a fine notch. When processing glass, moisten the file with water from time to time. Do not move the file randomly, but along the cut of the glass. Be careful not to injure your hands on the glass. Use a bottle cut in one of the described ways as a decorative vase.
