A school or university newspaper is an important information resource, interesting for both teachers and students. And if the editorial board manages to make the publication relevant and interesting, readers will certainly be found outside the walls of the educational institution. And for aspiring editors, journalists and photographers, having your own newspaper can be a great professional start.
It is necessary
- - editorial board;
- - a computer with graphics programs;
- - risograph;
- - voice recorders;
- - photographic equipment.
Instructions
Step 1
Think over the concept of the future edition. Decide what you will write about. Do you plan to publish official information, give the floor to readers, reprint texts from extraneous media, or write exclusively author's materials. The more accurately you answer all the questions, the easier it will be to get started.
Step 2
Gather the editorial board. Even a small publication should have an editor-in-chief who will be responsible for the thematic plan and form the issues, a layout designer who creates the appearance of the newspaper, journalists and a proofreader. It is advisable to include a photographer in the team. An abundance of photographs will beautify the newspaper and attract more readers. If you have a classmate in mind who can draw well, be sure to include him on the editorial board. Author's illustrations will add solidity and charm to the publication.
Step 3
Decide how much circulation you need. For a start, you can release a trial number. If all goes well, the circulation could be increased. Choose the number of pages and determine how often your newspaper will appear. Do not take on increased commitments, most likely, you will not be able to provide a weekly release. Stop at monthly.
Step 4
Think about the hardware. You will need a computer with installed graphics programs and Internet access. A layout designer and, if necessary, journalists and an editor will work behind him. However, most of the work will have to be done remotely - on home computers. In addition, a pair of voice recorders for recording interviews and photographic equipment are required.
Step 5
Check if the university has a printing house. If it is not there, you will have to purchase a risograph - its capacity is quite enough for printing a university publication.
Step 6
Before the release of each issue, make a detailed thematic plan. Try to include as much live, relevant content as possible. Lead author columns, take interesting interviews, make photo reports and announce contests. Be sure to conduct polls among readers - this way you will find out which areas are popular and what you need to work on.
