In every home there are many books, magazines, souvenirs and trinkets that have nowhere to store, and convenient and functional shelves can solve the problem of storing such things. You can make a shelf for books with your own hands, since the design of the shelf is simple and does not require specific knowledge of the design of furniture. You can assemble a bookshelf and attach it to the wall in different ways.

Instructions

Step 1

Long-lasting and beautiful shelves are obtained from decorative furniture boards. If necessary, you can make such panels yourself by gluing together pieces of wood processed with a planer and a hacksaw, but today, almost everywhere, glued furniture panels can be purchased in a store.

Step 2

The purchased shield needs to be processed - carefully sand it with sandpaper by hand or with a sander, and then process the edges by rounding them with the same sander or electric planer.

Step 3

Having processed a piece of the shield of the required size, you can additionally decorate it with a strip with a decorative pattern - cut traditional ornaments and patterns on a tree, or transfer a drawing to a tree, and then paint the future shelf with paints. It is convenient to apply an ornament to a product using a stencil, which must be developed and printed on a computer.

Step 4

There is another method of making a shelf that is available even to inexperienced craftsmen - for this you need two processed boards of the same size and two wooden spools of thread. Make sure your boards are the same size, sand the surfaces and round off the edges.

Step 5

Cover the surface of the planks with wood stain and drill four corner holes in each plank. You can varnish or wax the surface of the boards on top of the dried stain, and then polish with a soft cloth.

Step 6

Pass a strong cord through the openings of the shelves, passing it between the boards through wooden spools. Tie knots at both ends of the cord and, after driving two nails into the wall, hang the shelf. The bookshelf is ready.
