Dogs are incredibly diverse in size, body structure and muzzle shape, and therefore provide a lot of scope for practicing a wide variety of drawing skills. For example, drawing a pug, you can practice correct proportions, the location of color accents, and drawing wrinkles.
It is necessary
Pencil, eraser on paper
Instructions
Step 1
Draw a medium-sized circle that will later become the pug's head. Within this circle, sketch out the auxiliary lines to draw the features of the muzzle. For inexperienced artists, it is best to start with such constructions - this helps to avoid errors in proportions.
Step 2
Draw a slightly larger circle below the first circle. You have mapped out the chest of a sitting dog. Mark the location of the front and hind legs.
Step 3
Return to the circle for the head. Strictly respecting the proportions, outline the location and shape of the ears, eyes and nose. Use a few strokes to depict the wrinkles on the neck and deep wrinkles on the forehead, which are the main distinguishing feature of the pug's face and make this dog so touching and adorable.
Step 4
Shape your limbs. Draw the front legs, paying particular attention to the toes. You can draw tiny claws if you want. Do the same for the hind legs.
Step 5
Detail the features of the muzzle. Draw large, slightly protruding eyes, which are one of the characteristic features of the pug. Mark the location of the highlights. Make sure that the shape of the eyes is symmetrical.
Step 6
Continue working on the muzzle. Draw a neat upturned nose and a small mouth, under which wrinkles can also bulge. If you wish, you can add a protruding tongue to the side.
Step 7
Add depth to wrinkles and folds. If some lines seem wrong to you, erase them and redraw. Add a fold on the belly. The pug is a small dog, but rather dense in build.
Step 8
Draw the outlines of the ears and paws more clearly. Draw individual hairs with thin strokes. The pug is a short-haired breed, but due to the folds on the skin, puffy hairs are quite clearly visible, mainly on the neck, since the hair on the pug's face is shorter.
Step 9
Draw a dark "mask" on the pug's face, which, however, should be lighter than the already drawn eyes and nose.
Step 10
Erase all construction lines and add shadows. Try to place the shadows in the drawing correctly, focusing on an imaginary light source.
