It is necessary

  • - clay;
  • - oilcloth;
  • - water;
  • - container for kneading clay;
  • - wooden stacks;
  • - sponge;
  • - gouache or acrylic paints.

Instructions

Step 1

You can find modeling clay near a river, a ravine, and a construction pit. Take with you an airtight container in which you can fold the find so that it does not dry out. Remember that the clay should always be slightly damp. This material comes in different colors and shades: white, blue, red, yellow, black, etc. It all depends on the type of soil and the area in which you took the clay.

Step 2

At home, use a fine sieve to remove small stones, plants and other foreign particles from natural clay. Do not neglect this stage: the strength of the future product depends on it.

Step 3

If you don't want to use natural, natural clay, buy its synthetic counterpart from an art store: polymer clay.

Step 4

Prepare your workplace: lay an oilcloth so as not to stain the table, take plastic or wooden stacks, a container with clay, a glass of water to moisten the product, a sponge. Prepare in advance a sketch or photo of the toy that you will sculpt.

Step 5

First try to sculpt the larger part: the torso, the base. Then carefully attach small details: ponytail, ears, eyes, and more. Lubricate the joints with liquid clay (slip). Smooth the figurine with a sponge soaked in water. Leave the finished product in a dark place until it dries completely.

Step 6

Do not touch the toy for a day or two: it should dry well.

Step 7

Then the craft should be burned. It is best to carry out firing in special muffle furnaces. Ask the craftsmen you know if they will agree to burn your product for a fee. If not, use your home oven. Place the toy in the oven and then gradually raise the temperature to 200 degrees over two hours.

Step 8

After that, allow the craft to cool naturally.

Step 9

You can paint the burnt toy. For this purpose, both ordinary gouache paints and acrylic paints are suitable. The advantage of the latter is that after drying, they are not afraid of moisture, unlike gouache.

Step 10

Paint the toy according to your sketch. At the end, decorate the craft with ribbons, bows, beads.
