A doll can be a toy or a work of art. Once you have tried to make it yourself, you can become a master who creates practically exhibition specimens. At the beginning of this path may be your first polymer clay doll.
It is necessary
- - foil;
- - wire;
- - polymer clay;
- - acrylic paints.
Instructions
Step 1
Think carefully and draw the appearance of the doll. At this stage, it is not the character-creating details that will appear later that are important, but the general principles of construction. You will need to determine the proportions of the craft and the shape of the parts.
Step 2
Make the skeleton of the toy. Roll a ball out of foil that will be slightly smaller than the doll's head (5 mm). Inside, first insert a wire twisted in a wide spiral (1, 5-2 turns) and bring its end out. Seal the ball with your fingers, sculpting the chin, eye sockets, cheekbones, forehead. If the part is very small, use the tip of a pencil or pen without a shaft. Insert the eyes into the head - you can find them at an art store.
Step 3
Make a frame for the body of the toy according to the same principle from wire and foil. Connect it to the pin left in the head blank. In addition, the doll's body can be made not plastic, but rag - stuffing the parts cut from the fabric with padding polyester. In the most convenient way described, create arms and legs for your heroine.
Step 4
When starting to work with polymer clay (also called plastic), thoroughly wash your hands and work area so that dust and debris will not be imprinted on the material. Carefully knead a piece of plastic for modeling in your hands. Firstly, it will become softer and more pliable, and secondly, air bubbles will come out of it, which, when fired, can lead to cracking of the craft.
Step 5
Cover the frameworks with thin (about 5 mm) polymer clay sheets. Form all the bulges with your fingers, repeating the outlines of the foil template. Try to place the boundaries of the plates in inconspicuous places, and carefully "grind" the joints to each other.
Step 6
To make small details (eyelids, nose, lips, ears), pinch off a small piece of plastic, apply it to the doll's head and shape it with a thin stick.
Step 7
You will find the rules for firing the finished doll in each specific case on the packaging with plastic. Typically, the processing temperature is about one hundred to one hundred and thirty degrees, which allows you to use a conventional oven (but not a microwave). Place the product on a glass tray or dish and place it in the center of the oven. The heat treatment time depends on the type of plastic and the size of the toy. When the "baked" doll has completely cooled down, paint it with acrylic paints.
