Modelers choose the most convenient material for themselves: paper, plastic and sometimes even wood. The most common basis for creating an exact miniature copy of a car is plastic. Assembly kits are sold in stores in the form of ready-made small parts, which are assembled into a single whole using glue, paints and tools. This is how a beautiful car model is obtained, very similar to the original.

Step 1
Decide on the size. Prefabricated plastic car models come in the following scales: 1:87 (very rare), 1:76, 1:72, 1:35 (armored vehicles), 1:24 (for the most running car), 1:25, 1:18, 1:12 (copies of motorcycles and sports cars). If this is your first time doing this type of modeling, 1:35 is best. It is easier to work with it and you can only use a brush, unlike 1:24, where it is intended for painting small parts, not body parts. Smaller scales, such as 1:72, require certain developments in this area of hobbies (it is rather difficult to collect them on the first try).
Step 2
Next, you need to purchase a minimum set of tools for assembly. It can be bought in a specialty store or ordered online (although this will require more time and money). But there is another way: to purchase not special model tools, but those that are used in everyday life. These are tweezers (both medical and cosmetic), small scissors, a stationery knife, nippers (preferably sharp-toothed), brushes, containers (small jars for diluting paint), a holder (universal mounting with a magnifying glass), a pipette or syringe without a needle, a set Needle files (small files), a set of small drills and a holder for them (handle-drill), sandpaper (fine-grained), drawing pen (drawing tool).

You will also need some additional materials: oilcloth or newspaper to protect the table surface from glue, paint, plastic sawdust; solvent, paint (enamel, acrylic, aerosol), masking tape (to protect those places that should remain unpainted during painting), putty to eliminate shrinkage, cracks, seams and other recesses; varnish, a set of pigments (powders, markers, pastes) for weathering (aging of the model by applying traces of use), glue (only special).
Step 4
Immediately before assembly, carefully read the instructions. In it, in addition to the description of the process itself, several options for painting the model are given, colors and paint numbers are indicated.
Step 5
Take out all the sprues (ready-made plastic castings in the form of a frame or plate, with parts attached to them) and detach those parts that you plan to glue at the moment. Do not remove everything from the sprues to avoid confusion.
Step 6
Next, the cut must be cleaned of flash (plastic that spilled out into the joint of the mold halves and formed a small surplus). Removed with a clerical knife. Then you can sand the surface with sandpaper.
Step 7
Then we cover the parts with a thin layer of glue using a reefer (when the glue is in a tube, it is better to use a small spatula). We connect them, hold for a few seconds (10-20) and set aside. Some parts are painted before joining with the other. Car windows, which are transparent plastic, are glued into a painted door or opening. If you decide to insert them before painting, then you need to close the glass on both sides with masking tape.
Step 8
Then paint all the other parts of the model. Be sure to use the holder. Clip the part into the clamp. You can work with a brush or with a spray paint or airbrush. To create shine, varnish is suitable. Military vehicles, especially trucks, are best covered with a semi-matt varnish. Civilian - glossy.
Step 9
Often decals are attached to car models (pictures - license plates, emblems, moldings, which are transferred to the body of a collectible car at home). They are applied with tweezers to the surface and pressed tightly with a cotton swab, after dipping them in warm water for 5 seconds. In order for the base of the image not to shine, it is applied before varnishing and moistened with vinegar.
Step 10
After completing all of the above, you will receive a miniature copy of the car. And having gained experience, you will be able to collect a whole collection.
