The musical world of Moscow in the middle of the twentieth century was adorned by the creative duet of great musicians - Svyatoslav Richter and Nina Dorliak. The feminine beauty with classic features was in the shadow of the glory of her genius husband. However, her contribution to the cultural heritage is very significant. Nina Dorliak was an ideal model for the students of the Moscow Conservatory.
Biography
They do not become princesses, they are born. The curtailed beauty of Nina Lvovna Dorliak, her calm and benevolent disposition, love for the classical arts were the signs of the real aristocratic spirit of the chamber opera singer.
Nina Dorliak was born in 1908 in the family of the influential St. Petersburg financier Lev Dorliak. Family traditions, which had Western European foundations, were strict and noble. The ancestors of the opera singer were from high-born English and French families. The childhood years of the opera singer were spent within the walls of the St. Petersburg German gymnasium. The girl's mother saw Nina's extraordinary musical abilities, her silvery voice. Therefore, Nina received an excellent conservatory education in the vocal class.
Creativity and work at the conservatory
Nina Dorliak's professional activity was chamber concerts with famous musicians, where the opera diva performed Russian romances, arias from Italian operas, small chamber pieces little known to the general public. The young singer began her concert performances in 1935. The most complex arias of the operas by Giacomo Puccini and Mozart obeyed her pure feminine voice. She performed fragments of Mozart's The Wedding of Figaro with equal perfection, reincarnating now in Cherubino, now in playful Suzanne. Nina Dorliak taught within the walls of the Moscow Conservatory and has produced several generations of wonderful singers with a well-trained voice and artistic taste. For her pedagogical contribution to the training of opera performers and performing skills, Nina Lvovna Dorliak received high state awards, including the title of People's Artist of the Soviet Union.
Personal life
The singer's life with the genius pianist of our time Svyatoslav Richter received a lot of rumors and interpretations. An acquaintance with her future husband took place at one of the concerts, in which both artists took part. Nina's mother was very supportive of Richter and herself offered him her beautiful daughter as a partner. The marriage took place, and the couple lived in wedlock for 52 years until the untimely death of her husband. Throughout their long life, husband and wife addressed each other as "you." Their concerts were eagerly awaited by the fans of the pianist, because the famous Richter played with particular inspiration in the presence of Nina. A duet of a silver voice and piano sounds created masterpieces of the singer's and musician's creativity, unique in their beauty.
After the death of her husband, Nina Dorliak did not live even a year. She did not survive the sadness of eternal separation from her beloved. In 1998, on May 17, the singer ended her life, leaving us with a legacy of wonderful recordings performed by her.
