Childhood and youth

Karl Maria von Weber was born in 1786. His father worked in the theater, so the boy had to travel a lot with the theater troupe since childhood. Dad tried to instill in his son a love of music, and he succeeded. In addition, young Karl was fond of painting and generally grew up as a versatile personality.

From the age of ten, the boy began to learn to play the piano, and then composition. In addition, the young man was engaged in singing and had a very pleasant voice. Musical theater has always fascinated Karl, and in the future the guy may have seen himself as an artist.

Creative way

In 1798 Karl Weber met the famous composer Joseph Haydn. The maestro took patronage over the young talent. In the same year, Weber's first independent works appeared. They did not yet have their own style, but traces of remarkable talent were visible.

In 1803, seventeen-year-old Karl comes to Vienna. There he strenuously continues to improve his composing skills. His efforts were noticed by the famous musician Abbot Vogler at that time and offered him the position of conductor, that is, the head of the opera house. This was a great success for a talented young man.

The composer's creativity takes on new colors. He has his own style, and the style is very peculiar. Contemporaries notice that his music is a new word in German art.

Separately, we need to talk about Weber's innovation in the operatic genre. His opera "Free Shooter" is rich not only in the most beautiful melodies, convenient vocal parts, but also in well-developed images and characters of the heroes. In the opera, you can hear German folk motives, and this makes it closer to ordinary people, and not just to the aristocracy. In addition, in Weber's operas, the main focus is on the feelings of the heroes and their inner world. These are the features of early romanticism, the founder of which in Germany is considered to be Karl Maria von Weber.

Despite his undoubted talent, the composer was a man of uneasy disposition. He did not like the fame and honor that other musicians received. Carl Weber all his life fiercely clashed with the Italian composer Rossini, calling his music momentary and uninteresting. Rossini did not respond to the attacks of the eccentric Weber, thinking that time itself would put everything in its place. And so it happened.

Personal life

It is known that the famous composer was married and had four children. Interestingly, almost all of Weber's children have a part of their father's name in their names - either Karl or Maria. The composer loved his family, but was extremely vain. Well, geniuses have their own quirks.
