To process photos using the GIMP and Photoshop packages, you must have the skills to use these programs. In addition, manual editing of images is time consuming. Therefore, sometimes it is more rational to process images automatically, according to specified templates, using specialized applications and sites.

Step 1
The most common photographic special effect is sepia. To use it, you don't need anything other than just about any digital camera or camera phone. Just turn on the appropriate shooting mode in it - and do not forget to turn it off when you want to photograph in color again. But this effect does not always mimic the old photograph believably. The photo ceases to be colored, but vignetting (a decrease in brightness from the center to the edges) does not appear on it, as well as scratches, which are almost always present on photographic paper.
Step 2
One of the more successful photographic special effects apps is Instagram. Initially, it was only available to iPhone users, but recently a version of this program was developed for Android. It allows you to automatically process photos right at the time of shooting, or add effects to existing pictures. Almost all photo effects in this application are designed to simulate film photography. Among them - and very plausible scratches, and vignetting, and a slight violation of the white balance. If you have an iPhone or Android phone, download this app from the App Store or Google Play, respectively. After launching the program, register, and you can immediately upload each of the processed images to the Instagram server or to the photo albums of some social networks. And if you need to save the processing results locally, you can use another, also free program - Pixlr-o-Matic.
Step 3
To get photo effects on a computer (or phone with a browser), you can use the services of the Photofunia website. Going to it, first of all, select one of the tabs on the page. By default, the Effects tab is open, which contains options for unusual collages. Here you can place your face in a space suit, on a billboard, or in a sturdy picture frame. And by switching to the Lab tab, you can turn the image into a Polaroid photograph, oil painting, watercolor or line art. Of course, imitation of film photography has not been forgotten either. Select the desired effect, upload the image, and soon you will be able to download the result of processing. The main thing is to save it under a different name so as not to lose the original.
Step 4
The Rollip site works only on a computer, and only if the Flash plugin is available. It allows you to get ten types of effects, each of which is represented by four options. Once you are on the site, first click the Click here to start button. Then, using the Prev buttons. page and Next page, select the desired effect. Click on the swatch that matches the variation of this effect you have chosen. Load the file with the image, and after the end of its processing, download the result. As in the previous case, save it under a different name.
