Bright red poppies can become a decoration of your home not only in the summer, being put in a flower vase, but at any other time of the year - in the form of a picture hanging on the wall. Knowing the technique, as well as good paper and watercolor pencils, will help you draw poppies with your own hands.

Instructions

Step 1

Take a sheet of watercolor paper and stick it to your tablet. Dampen the paper with a wide, damp brush or sponge on both sides.

Step 2

Draw the outline of the petal with a dark pink watercolor pencil. On damp paper, the drawing will be slightly blurred, acquiring the texture of watercolors.

Step 3

Paint over the outline from the inside with orange, brown and yellow pencils to get smooth transitions of colors inside the petal.

Step 4

Draw the remaining poppy petals and then the core. Inside, the colors should be as blurred as possible, and the borders between them should be smoothed - you can achieve this by further blurring them with a damp brush.

Step 5

The borders of the petals themselves should be noticeable, so outline them with pronounced light lines with jagged natural edges.

Step 6

In the shaded part of the flower, use a darker color for the petals themselves and a dark brown color to outline the outlines.

Step 7

Make the core greenish, and put a few blurry dark points around it. The closer the petals are to the core, the darker and redder their shade. Keep this in mind when coloring the petals.

Step 8

Draw in the same way as many poppy flowers as you want to see in the picture.

Step 9

Using a brown, green and black pencil, outline and draw the stems and detail the leaves.

Step 10

Wait until the drawing dries up, and with light movements, without disturbing the transparent texture of the watercolor, add the missing strokes and details to the flowers. Your poppy is ready - now it can be completely dried and placed in a beautiful frame.
