There are many decorative works and directions of creativity, where you can not do without aged paper. There are several ways to age a regular sheet of paper.
Instructions
Step 1
For the first and easiest way to age paper, you need black tea. The stronger the tea leaves, the older the leaf looks. You can take tea bags or loose. Before aging, the paper can be wrinkled to create darker creases and areas of different shades, but you do not have to. Tea must be brewed and left to infuse for about 4-5 minutes, then in a bath or a dish suitable for the volume, the leaf is poured with tea. The longer it sits in the solution, the darker and older it will look. Taking it out of tea, the leaf is dried - on a flat surface or hanging on a rope. After drying, to fix the color, iron it with an iron. The paper becomes dark and fragile.
Step 2
The paper is aged in the same way with coffee. Do not leave the paper in the coffee solution for more than 5 minutes, it will disintegrate into fibers. The color is softer than when aging with tea - old paper of very good quality has such shades. To achieve the best effect, the edges can be slightly scorched over the fire, and a few drops of coffee can be added to the paper after drying.
Step 3
There is often a way to age paper with milk. In this case, the paper needs to be strongly wrinkled or lightly walk over it with fine sandpaper. For this you need fatty, rustic milk. With a brush, apply milk to the paper on both sides, several times, so that it is soaked properly. After further drying, there will be no obvious signs of aging on the paper, because it is necessary to iron it with an iron at the maximum temperature. Only then will the paper turn brown and old in appearance. If you do not hang the paper to dry, but lay it out on a patterned surface (for example, on a wooden board with carvings), after ironing it with an iron, you can get the same pattern on the paper.
Step 4
The most economical way to age paper is to hang it in the sun, but this will take longer than other methods. The paper should hang in the sun for at least 3 days. Previously, the paper can be wetted with plain water, wrinkled and straightened by hanging. Not all types of paper are susceptible to yellowing when exposed to sunlight, and therefore if no visible effect is observed after 3-4 days, it is better to use one of the three methods above. Another dubious, but with a positive effect, a very nice way is to put a wet sheet on a rusty surface. Thin paper can curl and tear when aged, so it is best to use good quality paper.
