Hats - "earflaps" well protect the head from the cold and piercing wind. However, not only the practicality of such products periodically brings them to fashion catwalks. Funny ears and ties make the owner of the hat younger and give his image individuality. Even a novice needlewoman can knit a fashionable thing with her own hands.

Instructions
Step 1
Take the necessary measurements for knitting a hat. It is important to find out the density of the fabric (the number of loops and rows on the sample of work). It is recommended to use thick circular knitting needles and matching yarn - this will significantly speed up the work and eliminate the need for joining seams.
Step 2
Write down the results in a workbook so as not to make mistakes in knitting. For example, you have a 10x10 cm square of fabric, made with the front stitch on the needles No. 6 (yarn in two additions). The resulting density of coarse knit is 15 loops for 20 rows. With this sample, you will find out the required number of loops in the area of the cap rim (head circumference in centimeters).
Step 3
Begin to knit a hat with earflaps with strings. Each element will blend into a one-piece knitted eyelet. Thus, the headpiece will be performed from the bottom to the top.
Step 4
Cast on the stitches on the knitting needles according to the desired width of the tie (for example, 5 stitches). Move the open thread arms to the opposite end of the working tool and drag the thread there. Knit stitches, then move them back to the other end of the knitting needle.
Step 5
Continue repeating the steps in step # 4 until you have made the cord to the desired length. Knit all loops with the front ones (garter stitch). In the process, carefully stretch the knitted strip so that its elements are evenly distributed over the fabric.
Step 6
Move on to knitting the ears of the cap. To do this, it is necessary to evenly add loops on the right and left sides of the canvas, in every even row. Perform hosiery (front loops from the "face" of the detail, purl - in the reverse rows).
Step 7
Extend the knitting in the following sequence: 7 times before the second loop at the beginning of the row, make a yarn over. Do the same at the end of the row, when there are 2 untied loops on the left knitting needle. As a result, instead of the initial 5 loops on the needles, there will be 19.
Step 8
Remove the loops on the additional knitting needle and tie the second eyelet in the same way as the first.
Step 9
Type on the circular knitting needles for the bottom hem of the hat. In this example, 42 loops are enough. Distribute all the necessary parts on one working tool: an eyelet from an auxiliary knitting needle; 21 loops of the main product; second ear. Total work - 80 loops.
Step 10
Stitch the hat in circular rows with knit stitching. The canvas needs to be raised 11-12 cm, depending on the size. Then you should start forming the top of the headdress.
Step 11
Start sequentially removing the loops from work. Before decreasing, remove a couple of loops untied, as if you were knitting a purl; knit the next knit one and pull it through the removed thread bows.
Step 12
Decrease 8 times in every even circle. In the center of the front of the cap and back, remove 4 times along the loop, and also along the loop above the left and right ears. When a small ring of open thread arms remains on the knitting needles, pass the yarn through them and pull off the top of the finished hat with earflaps.
