It is necessary

  • - a piece of fleece with a length of 0.6-0.8 m;
  • - scissors;
  • - threads, needles, pins;
  • - chalk or thin remnant;
  • - sewing machine;

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, decide on the material for the hat. Fleece fabric works well. The fleece is lightweight, warm, elastic and dries very quickly. You will be happy to wear a hat made of it for more than one year. The stores offer fleece fabrics of a wide variety of colors, you can choose the desired density and thickness.

Step 2

Pick a pattern for the hat you like. If there is nothing suitable, you can easily make a pattern yourself.

For example, a six-wedge hat is shown. Measure the circumference of your head and divide that number by six. For example, if the circumference of the head is 60 cm, then the width of the wedge will be 10 cm. Next, measure the head from the top from the forehead to the back of the head. Half of this length will be equal to the height of the wedge. Construct an isosceles triangle according to these measurements. If desired, the top and sides can be slightly rounded. Do not forget to leave 1-1.5 cm allowances for seams. The width of the allowance depends on the density of the fabric.

Step 3

Fold the fabric in half. Pin the three gusset patterns to the fabric. Circle them with small or thin remnants. Remove the pins and put away the patterns. Cut out the details of the cap according to the sketched outlines. Sew the elements of the cap together with coarse large stitches. Make sure that all seams are on one side of the product. Try on a hat. Correct its shape if necessary.

Step 4

The lapel is done as follows. Cut a strip of fleece twice the width you want. The length of the strip is equal to the length of the lower part of the cap. Don't forget to add allowances. Sew the strip so that you have a two-layer headband. Make a pattern for the ears of your favorite shape, taking into account the seam allowances.

Step 5

Sew the parts on the sewing machine with a straight stitch. Cut off any excess threads with scissors. Sew your ears to the finished hat.

Step 6

Overcast the edges of the seams. Trim them with decorative threads if desired. In this case, you get a double-sided hat that can be worn with seams out or in.
