On the eve of New Year's masquerades, many mothers-needlewomen think about an outfit for their child. A homemade suit made with love has its advantages over an expensive store one. The hare costume is invariably popular among kids. To sew it with your own hands, you do not need special professional skills. Sewing the ears is a bit of a challenge.
It is necessary
- - a piece of cotton or linen;
- - paper for patterns;
- - pencil;
- - scissors;
- - ruler;
- - synthetic winterizer;
- - cardboard or whatman paper;
- - needle;
- - threads;
- - sewing machine;
- - hood;
- - cord;
- - pins;
- - artificial or natural fur.
Instructions
Step 1
Draw the size of the hare's ears on the paper. Use this pattern to make 8 cut pieces. 4 identical parts must be cut out of thick white cotton or linen. At the same time, do not forget to leave allowances for the connecting seams of about 1 cm. From the padding polyester, make 2 lining parts (without allowances!), Then copy the same parts onto whatman paper or thin cardboard.
Step 2
Hand baste the padding polyester parts to one of the front parts of the ears. After that, lay the back and front parts of the product right sides to each other so that the swept thick lining part is outside the work.
Step 3
Pin off the parts with pins or baste the edge with contrasting thread. The bottom edge of the product must be left unstitched.
Step 4
Sew a bridging seam along the seam line by hand or with a sewing machine. After removing the basting (or pins), quickly and carefully turn out the bunny ears using a ruler or pencil. Try not to crease the right sides of the canvas, as the padding polyester pad may wrinkle when ironing.
Step 5
Insert cardboard or paper inserts into each eyelet from bottom to top to better fix the shape of the product.
Step 6
Fold the ears of the hare in a half ring along the bottom edge and fix by sewing the edges by hand or by sewing straight and reverse stitches on a typewriter.
Step 7
Prepare a hat for a bunny costume. It can be a simple hood made of two halves with one central seam, cut and sewn by oneself. For the basis of the pattern, take any ready-made clothes with a hood of a suitable size.
Step 8
Leave a hem for the drawstring on the front edge of the hood, and machine the bottom edge of the part with a sewing machine. When sewing along the center line of the seam, be sure to leave room for the eyelets. To correct their location, try on the "head" of a hare to the future owner of the fancy dress.
Step 9
Fold both ears together and sew them into the seam of the hood. After that, fold the left and right ears in opposite directions and sew them to the fabric of the hood, making an indent from the central seam by about 2.5-3 cm.
Step 10
Lift both ears and connect them with a few neat hand stitches so that a triangular shape forms at the base. This will allow the hare's ears to stand upright.
Step 11
All you have to do is sheathe the bottom of the ears (along the perimeter of the triangular base) with a strip of faux or natural fur and tie the strings into the cap-hood. If desired, the back of the ears and the front edge of the cap can also be made fur.
