Silicone molds or prints are a good help when working with plastic, clay, gypsum, paraffin. They greatly speed up the creative process. There are many ready-made forms on sale, but still the range is quite limited. In addition, using the purchased form, you cannot say that the thing you have done is completely original. You can make molds yourself.
It is necessary
- Two-component silicone material
- Container
- Sculptural plasticine
- Grease (non-silicone)
Instructions
Step 1
The first step in creating a form is creating a container. It is made of any material, tough enough. It can be wooden boards, chipboard, plexiglass, or a ready-made box or container. There should be no gaps in the container. You can easily and quickly glue the container with a hot gun. The size of the container is determined by the size of the model with which the shape will be made.
Step 2
Then take the sculptural plasticine. A regular child's will not work, as it is very sticky and will be difficult to remove from the model. Lay out evenly so that it takes up half of the container.
Step 3
Take the model and carefully place it in the clay. Make holes along the edges of the plasticine so that the shapes do not move later. Now you need to determine how much silicone you need. To do this, pour water or bulk material into a container, and then pour it into a container with marks.
Step 4
Lubricate the model with grease or soap so that you can later separate it from the silicone. Mix the components of the silicone molding compound strictly according to the manufacturer's instructions, carefully to avoid bubbles, and fill the container starting from the edges. When the top of the mold you have poured has hardened, carefully remove the clay from the container.
Step 5
You now have a model half-filled with silicone in the container. Repeat the fill, having lubricated both the model and the frozen part of the mold. Wait for the mold to completely harden, disassemble the container. The form is neatly separated, and the model is removed from it. The silicone mold is ready.
