If you have a sewing machine that you also know how to use, then you have the opportunity to sew original things for your children. Your hand-made elasticated baby pants will look much more attractive than the pants you buy at the store.

It is necessary

  • - thick fabric;
  • -decorative patterns and applications for design solutions;
  • - a wide elastic band that you insert into the belt.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the fabric first. Take the finished pattern of all the details, put it on the fabric. Now trace the outline with chalk and cut out the details, but be sure to leave allowances for the seams.

Step 2

You can make the pattern yourself, using the child's pants of the right size. Lay out the pants on the prepared fabric and outline their contours. Do this in such a way that you have four main parts, two for each leg.

Step 3

Now cut out the back two pockets from the separate material, then two smaller side pockets. Iron the pocket allowances inward.

Step 4

If you want, make a decorative stitching on the front parts of the legs. Sew the front pieces first along the step seams and then along the side seams. Make double stitches on the outside. On the back of the trousers, wash the prepared pockets, but before that, sew their upper edges.

Step 5

At your discretion, the pockets can be decorated with glue appliqués or a decorative tape of your choice. Finally, sew a front pocket on each side to the trousers. Sew the decorative stitch on the front of the pants in such a way as to imitate the front closure.

Step 6

Bend the bottom edges of the legs neatly, then hem them with double stitching with strong thread. Sew a wide elastic waistband on the top of the pants with the same double stitch.

Step 7

You can insert the elastic into the separately cut belt. The second option is to use it as an independent decorative and functional element. Make sure that the elastic is selected strong enough, dense. It is better if the elastic looks contrasting with the main color of the child's trousers.

Step 8

Use your creative imagination and add the decoration of your choice. Remember that the child's attention will be focused on interesting accessories, thanks to which the pants you sewn can become his most favorite thing.
