Trousers will be comfortable for a pregnant woman if they do not constrain her tummy. Re-sew regular pants, turning them into an outfit for the expectant mother. For this, a pattern is not needed, but only desire and a little time are needed.

It is necessary

  • - pants;
  • - knitted fabric;
  • - rubber;
  • - scissors;
  • - sewing machine;
  • - thread, needle.

Instructions

Step 1

There are two ways to change the usual pants for a pregnant woman. The first way is to sew in wedges. With the second, the back of the product remains intact, and the front is slightly trimmed. In any case, the garment must be sewn in the abdominal area using a fabric that stretches well. It is better to take natural fabric so that the garment is comfortable in any weather and the body breathes.

Step 2

If you chose the first method, leave the zipper or button fastener intact. Peel off the waistband from the front of the pants.

Step 3

Turn them inside out, with the front up. Take a ruler and crayon. To the right and left of the clasp (if it is in the middle), draw 2 vertical lines. They should start at the waist and end at the groin.

Step 4

Use scissors to cut all 4 strips along the markings. Measure your waist and trousers at this point with a tape measure. Waiting for the baby, your tummy has grown, and now your waist, for example, is 12 centimeters larger than your trouser's. Divide this number by 4. It turns out that the top of each wedge is equal to three centimeters.

Step 5

Cut out the wedges in the form of a triangle, the base of which in this example is 3 centimeters. The height of the wedge is equal to the length of the line that you drew earlier with chalk and then cut through it.

Step 6

Cut out 4 triangles according to these measurements. Leave one centimeter seam allowance around all sides of these shapes. Sew four wedges into the previously made cuts. The base of the triangle will be at the top of the waist, and you will sew the first side to one side of the cut. The other side is to the other side of this cut.

Step 7

It remains to lengthen the belt. It is sewn to the back of the product. Sew it on both sides. In this example, 12 centimeters are missing. So, sew 6 centimeters to the right and left end of the belt. To do this, cut a ribbon out of the same fabric that the wedges are made from. Sew the entire waistband to the front of the garment and the original maternity pants are ready.

Step 8

You can enlarge the pants at the waist in another way. Cut off the top of the product along the line of the beginning of the belly from the front. Open and then cut a rectangle out of the jersey. Sew the bottom side to the front of the trousers, laying in a few soft folds. Stitch the sides of the pants and knitwear. Sew on the belt and thread the elastic through it. It remains to tie it up and wear comfortable and original trousers.
