A garage or workshop does not have the same strict design requirements as an apartment. Therefore, many things can be done on your own, and it's a good idea to save money on it. For example, you can make heating radiators. To do this, you will need the simplest materials and a little time.

It is necessary

  • - angle grinder (grinder);
  • - welding machine, electrodes;
  • - steel pipe VGP Du-25, length 20 cm;
  • - steel pipe with a diameter of 102x3.5 mm, length 2 m;
  • - squeegee Du-25, 110 mm long (2 pcs);
  • - plug Du-25;
  • - sheet steel b 3 mm, dimensions 100x600 mm.

Instructions

Step 1

Find the battery material first. These should be large diameter steel pipes. If you do not have such scraps on the farm, contact the nearest scrap metal collection point, where you can find suitable pipes at the most affordable price.

Step 2

To make a battery that is about the same power as a standard cast iron radiator with ten sections, calculate the length of the pipe. For example, if the diameter is 102 mm and the wall thickness is 3.5 mm, calculate the inner diameter (9.5 mm) and the cross-sectional area (70, 85 mm). As a result of dividing the volume of the battery (14500 cubic cm) by the cross-sectional area, you get the required length - 204.66 cm. Round it up to 2 meters.

Step 3

Consider battery design. Make it three-section, and, so that there is no airing, install it as shown in the diagram. In this case, you do not need to install a Mayevsky crane

Step 4

Mark the pipe into three equal parts and cut with a grinder. In each pipe, weld two holes with a diameter of 25 mm at a distance of 50 mm from the end on each side. Please note that the holes should be located at an angle of 180º relative to each other, that is, one hole is at the bottom and the other at the top. Carefully strip any molten metal from the pipes.

Step 5

Cut 6 round blanks with a diameter of 25 mm from the steel sheet and weld the ends of the pipes with these blanks.

Step 6

Cut a thin pipe with a diameter of 25 mm into two equal pieces 100 mm long. Weld them to the large pipes to create a zigzag. Also make 100 mm long pieces from the bar and weld them on the side opposite to the adapters to stiffen. You have got a stable structure along which water can only move in a zigzag.

Step 7

Also, by welding, fix the squeegees to the inlet and outlet.

Step 8

Check your homemade radiator for leaks. To do this, pour water into it, closing the lower squeegee with a plug. If a leak is found in one of the joints, mark this place with a marker, drain the water and weld the gap.
