It is necessary

  • - a simple pencil;
  • - a set of colored pencils;
  • - eraser;
  • - a thick sheet of paper.

Instructions

Step 1

First, sketch out with a simple pencil. The face of the Avatar combines the features of a person and a cat - try to convey this. See how the planes can limit the contours of the face, and draw construction lines. Mark the eye level with a line too. Measure the sizes of the parts of the face relative to each other. Draw the outlines of the face. Pay attention - the bridge of the nose of the Avatar is wider than the base of the nose, and the pupil occupies almost the entire eye. Draw the boundaries of the main chiaroscuro.

Step 2

The Avatar's blue skin is covered in blue-gray streaks. Draw their outlines.

Step 3

Now take a blue pencil and outline the facial features. Erase the pencil lines as you go. Shade the entire face with a basic blue tone, and the inside of the ears with brown. Rub the strokes with a piece of paper. Shade the darker areas of the ear over the brown base tone.

Step 4

Make the blue stripes on the face more intense. On top of the blue pencil, overlay the shade with black pencil. Do not press hard on the pencil; strokes should be translucent. Mark dark places with dense intersecting strokes. Mark the pupils with black, remembering to leave the highlights white. Make the whites of the eyes darker than the iris to create the effect of glowing eyes.

Step 5

Continue with a black pencil. Show halftones. Shade the darkest areas especially intensively. Make the iris pale yellow. Use the eraser to highlight the light areas. Rub it a little with a piece of paper - this will make the transitions smoother.

Step 6

Draw the hair with black pencil. Make the strokes long, in the direction of hair growth. Do not try to maintain strict parallelism - the hair should lie in strands. Highlight a few strands with an eraser. Use a red pencil to mark the hairs that shine in the sun.
