Scrapbooking as a hand-made direction appeared in Russia about 10 years ago and immediately gained popularity among handicraftsmen. With the help of paper, glue and scrapbooking materials, using the scrapbooking technique, you can create not only postcards, but also notebooks, photo albums and much more. But if additional tools are needed for notebooks and albums, then making a postcard with your own hands is available to everyone.
Postcard paper
The first thing to look for when making a scrapbooking postcard is the base paper. Thick landscape paper or not very thick cardboard of any color is ideal. Due to the fact that the card will be created from different elements, it is completely unnecessary to use a standard white background.
Red paper looks festive and bright, soft and harmonious - ivory or light beige. In addition, specialty scrapbooking stores sell cardboard blanks for cards of all colors. The postcard can be either horizontal or vertical, classic (in the form of a drop-down book) or single.
Tools and decorative items
Also, during the manufacture you will need: office glue (high-quality glue stick or PVA), scissors of different sizes, and various decorative elements (paper, lace, inscriptions, small pictures, special tags, flat buttons, etc.). It is very important that such elements are combined with each other in color and texture.
It is not recommended to combine rough fabrics and paper with silk details or multicolored feathers. An aged man can be presented with a scrap card in a strict European style with laconic details in brown and red tones. The decoration of a woman's postcard depends solely on the taste preferences of the birthday girl.
Sequencing
After selecting all the elements, you need to make a sketch of the future postcard, that is, put all the elements on the background of the postcard and think over the internal content (perhaps 1-2 elements will also be appropriate on the inner pages). It is worth gluing in stages, very carefully, since any error in gluing is very noticeable in the final result. In the process, do not rush: the glue should dry properly and stop being noticeable on the paper until the next stage begins.
If an element is supposed to be sewn on a sewing machine, it is necessary to do this before gluing all the elements. After finishing the work, you need to let the postcard dry completely (1-2 hours) and only after that fill the inner pages with congratulations.
