Handmade toys are becoming more and more popular. Knitted, sewn from felt, jersey and other materials, dolls are in great demand. Handmade toys become a welcome gift. The toys made of wool using the “dry felting” technique seem to be especially cute and “warm”. The technique is very interesting and allows you to make any, even the most unimaginable toy. For example, a New Year's deer.
You will need: wool of different colors, felting needles, scissors, foam sponge.
Pull wool for felting into small pieces, fluff them up. This should be done in order for the wool to fall off better.
1. Torso
We take several pieces of wool, put them together and form the body of the future deer.
The wool must first be felted with a thick needle. The needle should be inserted into the wool in an upright position. If you insert the needle at an angle, it will bend or break. Pierce the wool through, the tip of the needle should pierce the sponge on which the wool lies.
After the wool has rested, we change the needle to a thin one.
We continue to roll until the part becomes solid.
It turned out the base of the body.
To make a reindeer torso, you need to roll the fur to the base.
Add wool until the torso is the desired shape and size.
The body should look like a drop, but without a sharp top (like a drop).
2. Head
Fold several pieces of wool. To shape the head, it should look like a trapezoid.
First, roll the wool with a thick needle, then switch to a thin one. During the felting process, you will need to add wool (as when felting the body).
When the head is stiff, you need to add wool, leaving the ends of the wool (do not roll them over).
The head should be in proportion to the body.
We take a small piece of light wool.
We roll it to the bottom of the head, form the muzzle.
Fold your nose out of a small piece of bright wool.
Take a piece of wool and shape the nose.
Felt until the piece of wool is reduced to the desired size.
Roll the nose to the muzzle of the deer.
3. Hands
Put several pieces of wool together.
Form a hand.
Roll with a thick needle, then a thin one.
The size of the hand should decrease during felting.
4 Legs.
Form a roller from several pieces of wool.
Fold the wool roll to make it stiff.
5. Horns
Form a thin cushion of light wool.
Fold it carefully, weld on small elements.
6. Assembly
Roll up small ears, roll them and the antlers to the head of the deer.
Use a thick needle to make depressions on the head, insert black beads into them and carefully sew.
Roll a little black wool to the arms and legs, these will be hooves.
Tie arms and legs to the torso with an extra piece of wool.
Attach the head to the torso. To do this, you need to use additional pieces of wool.
The deer is ready. You can wear a knitted sweater on the deer or just tie a scarf.
