Who is Jon Snow

According to the plot of the book and television project, Jon Snow is a bastard or illegitimate son of Ned Stark, king of the northern part of the state of Westeros. After reaching adulthood, the young man decided to leave the family castle of Winterfell, where he was treated rather coolly, and join the Night's Watch - a brotherhood that guards the northern border of the state, separated from the rest of the world by a high ice wall. Service in the Watch is carried out for life and is fraught with many dangers: cruel savages or wildlings live behind the wall, as well as various fantastic creatures seeking to infiltrate Westeros.

Despite all the hardships of the service, John managed to survive a difficult trip to the wall and return from there with a small group of wildlings, whom he persuaded to “bury the ax of war” and find refuge in Westeros. Together, they managed to hold back the onslaught of the remnants of the savages who learned the location of the castle of the Night's Watch and attacked it. This battle resulted in numerous casualties on both sides, including the death of John's girlfriend Ygritte.

Snow is recognized as a hero and is proclaimed a contender for the post of the new Lord Commander of the brotherhood, who died shortly before. Voting begins. John's rival was Janos Slynt, one of the sentinel commanders. Bastard defeats him by a small margin and becomes the 998th Lord Commander of the Night's Watch.

Death and further destiny

Jon Snow's supporters and himself celebrate the victory, while Janos Slint and several other Marines are clearly disappointed and watch the general jubilation with hatred. The proclaimed lord commander invites the wildlings remaining in the castle to join the Night's Watch, thereby replenishing its thinned ranks. At the same time, John is overtaken by news that the North is captured by the Bolton family (family clan), and the allies who tried to free him are defeated.

John gathers a council, where he offers the sentinels to go with him to Winterfell and reclaim the northern lands. Only a few people supported him. After the meeting, Snow is informed of an unexpected find and asked to go out into the castle courtyard. There he discovers a group of sentinels crowded around a certain object. It turns out to be a cross with the inscription "Traitor". Immediately after that, the Brothers attack the commander and take turns stabbing him with the words "For patrol!" John dies of his injuries.

However, the hero did not remain dead for long. Fortunately, the priestess of Fire and the witch Melisandre were passing through the castle. John's friends and associates asked her to use magic to revive the Lord Commander. After several attempts, she succeeded, and Snow came to life. First of all, he executed everyone who inflicted fatal blows on him. John then stated that since he was dead, his lifetime debt to the Night's Watch had been paid off. Together with loyal troops, he advanced to Winterfell, where he fought Ramsay Bolton and his army.

With great difficulty, John won the victory and managed to return the castle of Winterfell and the entire North to the Starks. Representatives of all the great houses of this part of Westeros convened a council at which they decided to proclaim Jon Snow King of the North. From this moment, the story of the preparation of the proclaimed ruler begins to fight the army of the dead, led by the mysterious White Walkers. The evil spirits approach Westeros from the distant lands behind the ice wall, and can strike at any moment. The only hope of victory is a dubious alliance with a foreign invader named Daenerys Targaryen, who arrived in Westeros with a huge army and wants to seize power over the entire state.
