Rick Springfield (real name Richard Lewis Springthorpe) is a vocalist, guitarist, composer, lyricist, producer and actor. Viewers in Russia are best known for his filming in the TV series "Supernatural". He also sang the song "Bloody Messiah", which was specially written for this project.
Brief biography and career
Born into a military family in Sydney (Australia). Date of birth 23 August 1949. Has Scottish and English roots. Due to the work of his father, most of his childhood was spent at military bases in England and Australia.
It was in Australia that he showed a special love for music. He began performing, using guitar and piano, in all kinds of clubs in the city of Melbourne. And already in 1964 he joined the amateur group "The Jordy Boys". By the early 1970s, the musician had worked in Australian bands such as Rock House, MPD Band and Zoot. The last team created several hits of that time. His author's composition “Speak To The Sky” became especially popular.
The next stage in Springfield's career was moving to the United States in 1972, where he gained a huge fan base among the younger generation. The new version of his song hit the American charts. Personal life
For the first time, a musician fell in love at a fairly mature age, at the age of 25. His chosen one was 15-year-old actress Linda Blair. The couple broke up quickly enough, but the musician still has only fond memories.
In October 1984 he married Barbara Porter, whom he met while recording the album Working Class Dog. Barbara was at the time the secretary at the recording studio where the album was recorded. The couple have 2 sons: Liam (1985) and Joshua (1989).
