Decoupage is a way of decorating a surface with cut-out pictures. With this technique, you can decorate any piece of furniture. You can decoupage the table using paper napkins, wallpaper or fabric.

Instructions

Step 1

Clean the table from dirt and dust. Remove the old paint coat with a grinder or sandpaper.

Step 2

Put putty on all cracks and scratches on the surface of the countertop. Sand the well-dried filler with fine-grained emery paper.

Step 3

Prime the table surface. Use acrylic paints for the primer. Apply the first coat and cover with the next coat after the first coat is completely dry.

Step 4

To preserve the color and texture of the table, apply a clear acrylic lacquer or a lacquer primer to the surface.

Step 5

Flip the table over and process the inside of it. Paint the legs with paint. To decorate new furniture or laminated chipboard, it is enough to degrease the surface.

Take 3-layer paper napkins with a matching image. Cut out the elements you want.

Step 7

From the wrong side, remove the bottom two layers of paper. Place the top layer with the picture on a dry surface, distributing in the desired order.

Take a special glue for decoupage or PVA glue diluted with water. Apply it very carefully to the surface of the picture.

Step 9

Do not allow a large amount of glue to accumulate on the napkin, which can get very wet and tear. Be careful not to wrinkle. Smooth from the center to the edges with a flat brush.

Step 10

After the table is dry, draw individual contours and decor elements with a simple marker or felt-tip pen. Cover the decorated table with varnish twice.

Step 11

For decoupage the table, you can use a cotton fabric with an original pattern. Measure the width and length of your countertop. Make a matching pattern.

Step 12

Glue the fabric to the surface of the countertop with decoupage glue or PVA. Apply several layers of acrylic varnish to the finished product.
