early years
Alexandra Krutikova, the future opera and chamber singer, was born in 1851 in St. Petersburg or Pochep (the exact place of birth is unknown), she grew up in a wealthy family: Alexandra Pavlovna's father is a hereditary honorary citizen from the Chernigov province. As the children from wealthy families believe, the girl studied abroad, in Riga. Alexandra studied well, but showed great ability and passion for music and singing. As noted by her contemporaries, Alexandra had incredible musical talent and ear.
In Austria, Alexandra Krutikova studied singing with Geinike, the young girl also studied in Paris, and then entered the St. Petersburg Music Conservatory, her teacher was G. Nissen-Saloman.
Education and creativity
Alexandra Pavlovna Krutikova made her debut at the Mariinsky Theater on January 12, 1872, where she performed the role of Vanya (A Life for the Tsar), followed by Ratmir in the opera Ruslan and Lyudmila (January 28, 1872). And already in 1873, Alexandra successfully graduated from the conservatory.
After performing at the Mariinsky Theater, Krutikova was invited there as a soloist, where she subsequently performed from January 1, 1872 until May 1, 1876.
In 1880, Alexandra was invited to the Bolshoi Theater, the woman accepted the invitation and from 1880 to 1891 was part of the troupe of the Bolshoi Theater. Alexandra Pavlovna Krutikova's career was successful not only in the Russian Empire, but also in other countries: for example, in Sweden and Paris. Krutikova made artistic trips to Sweden, Odessa, Kharkov and Kiev, her performances have always caused overwhelming delight and sensation.
Unexpectedly for everyone, in 1901 she finished performing and left the stage.
Alexandra Pavlovna died in 1919 at the age of 69 in Moscow.
Thanks to her brilliant vocal technique, wonderful voice and deep dramatic talent, Krutikova performed a wide variety of roles. During her creative career, Alexandra Krutikova has performed more than 40 roles, some of them: the role of Zerlina (Don Juan), Ortruda (Lohengrin), Olga (Eugene Onegin), Lyubov (Mazepa).
