One of the most popular knitting patterns today is "braids". It gives the canvas a relief and a stylish look. By following our tips, you can understand the secret of knitting braids on the needles.
It is necessary
- - 2 or 3 needles;
- - threads.
Instructions
Step 1
For the first experiment, thick, smooth threads are better. Take two knitting needles and threads and cast on 14 stitches.
Step 2
Always put the first loop in a row on a knitting needle without knitting, and always knit the last in a row with a front loop, these loops do not participate in the formation of the pattern.
Step 3
Take a knitting needle in your left hand and an empty knitting needle in your right hand, and start knitting the first row. Purl 4. When knitting purl stitches, keep the thread between you and knitting. Insert a free knitting needle into the loop at the back, hook the thread and pull the new loop to the wrong side of the work. Discard the knitted loop from the left knitting needle. After knitting 4 purl loops, knit 4. To do this, throw the thread over the knitting needles, insert the right knitting needle into the loop with a movement "away from you", hook the thread and pull the new loop to the front of the work. Discard the knitted loop from the left knitting needle again. After 4 knit stitches, knit 4 purl loops again. The first row is complete.
Step 4
Expand the work and knit the second row. Knit the first 4 loops with knit loops, the next 4 loops with purl, the last loops with knit loops again. Knit the third row as well as the first, and the fourth as well as the second.
Step 5
Take the canvas that has one convex strip in the middle. Divide this strip in two and interlace them together. To do this, knit the first 4 loops with purl loops. The crucial moment: swap 5 and 6 loops, and 7 and 8 loops. To do this, remove 5 and 6 loops, leave them behind the canvas, throw them without knitting 7 and 8 loops on the left knitting needle. Put 5 and 6 sts on the right knitting needle, return 7 and 8 sts. The loops on the left spoke are now reversed. Knit them, as usual, with knit loops, end the row with 4 purl loops. If the stripes are wider than 3 loops, use an extra knitting needle.
Step 6
Work the sixth row in the same way as the second (knit 4, purl 4, knit 4). Then knit the seventh row (like the first), the eighth (like the second).
Step 7
Repeat the pattern from rows 5 to 8, several times if necessary. So you have learned how to knit braids on the needles.
