The "Braids" pattern is popular, it is used for sweaters, hats, mittens. A white sweater with a braid pattern will never go out of style, it is often called a "classic". It is easy to knit such a sweater, it is enough to understand the basics of knitting "braids". Having learned to knit "braids" from them, you can make an intricate pattern.
You will need: A pair of knitting needles, one short auxiliary knitting needle, the rest of the yarn.
It is necessary to cast on loops, taking into account that the "braid" consists of an even number of loops. For example, out of 8 facial. Usually the "Braids" pattern is knitted on the purl background. You can experiment and tie the background with a "pearl" pattern.
Example 16 loops. 8 of them are purl (four on each side of the braid) and 8 are facial. It should be borne in mind that in the purl rows, the loops for the "braid" are knitted with purl loops, and the background loops with the front loops
Crossing the loops is done in odd rows. All crossings are done in the same direction.
1/2 of the front loops (from those loops that were typed for the braid) is transferred to the short auxiliary knitting needle.
To make the crossing to the left, the auxiliary knitting needle with loops is left before work, the loops are knitted from the left knitting needle, and then with the auxiliary knitting needle.
The row is tied to the end according to the drawing:
To cross the loops to the right, the auxiliary knitting needle with loops is left at work.
Knit loops from the left knitting needle, then from the auxiliary knitting needle. Tie the row to the end according to the pattern.
The distance between the crossing (the height of the "link") can be equal to the width of the "braid", or be twice as large.
The width of the braid is 8 loops, the height of the "link" (distance between crossing) is 16 rows:
The width of the braid is 8 loops, the distance between the crossing of 8 rows:
By tying the "braid link" make a cross.

"Spit" with crossing to the right:
"Braids" can be knitted separately from each other, then they will be single. If you tie two "braids" side by side, you get a spectacular double "braid." It consists of a "braid" with crossing to the right and crossing to the left.
For a double "braid" you need to dial an even number of front loops (at least 12). For example, we cast on 16 knit stitches (for the "braid").
In the first "braid" we cross to the right:
In the second "braid" we cross to the left:
This is how it should look like:
We knit six rows.
Crossing again:
Tie the row to the end according to the pattern.
Single and double "braids" can be combined to create a spectacular pattern.
