The braid pattern is very popular and there are many variations. Any of them can be made with yarn of two colors. Knitting multi-colored "braids" has a number of nuances that must be taken into account. If you do everything right, you get a beautiful and unusual canvas.
It is necessary
Yarn of different colors, knitting needles, auxiliary knitting needle
Instructions
Step 1
The peculiarity of the brioche technique is that one front loop and one purl loop alternates in the canvas. You can alternate two purl and one front, but in this case broaches will be visible. Therefore, when knitting "braids" using the brioche technique, it will not work to make a contrasting background from the purl loops.
Step 2
The "braid" consists of purl loops and front loops. To form it, it will take twice as many loops as when performing this pattern with yarn of the same color. The number of loops must be even. The "braid" loops can be marked with special markers.
Step 3
Knit several loops.
Step 4
As a general rule, part of the loops is transferred to the auxiliary knitting needle. Its location depends on the direction of the crossing.
Step 5
In the braid pattern, the crisscross is to the right, so the extra spoke is at work.
Step 6
Knit the remaining loops on the left knitting needle. Transfer the stitches from the auxiliary knitting needle to the left working knitting needle, or knit the loops from the auxiliary knitting needle.
Step 7
Finish the row.
Step 8
Run several rows of multi-colored loops.
Step 9
Make a cross. In the brioche technique, you can knit any "braid", including the "Celtic" one according to the usual pattern for knitting needles. The main thing to consider is that in double-sided knitting, all loops (purl and front) are used in the formation of the pattern. The canvas will turn out without a "seamy side", with a double-sided ornament.
