The "braid" knitting pattern has long been popular with needlewomen of more than one generation. They are decorated with hats, scarves, sweaters, socks, mittens, etc. The relief of the "braid", depending on the knitting technology, may be different. It can be both volumetric braids and ordinary plaits.
It is necessary
- - knitting needles;
- - yarn;
- - threads;
- - a needle.
Instructions
Step 1
To knit a volumetric braid on a hat, dial 24 loops on the knitting needles, of which 6 loops are extreme connecting loops (three loops on each side of the knitting fabric), and 18 loops are directly the loops of the braid. Knit 8 rows of stocking. In the ninth row, close the middle loops (18 loops), knit the connecting loops with basic stitch. In the tenth row, knit the first three loops and cast on the needles the number of loops closed in the previous row, i.e. 18 loops, knit the outer three loops of the row.
Step 2
Repeat knitting starting from the first row. This will create holes in the canvas. Then continue knitting to the required length, i.e. length equal to the circumference of the head. When knitting the penultimate eight rows of hosiery, in addition to 18 middle loops, close the first 3 loops so that only three extreme loops remain on the working knitting needle. To knit the last braid elements, knit the existing loops on the knitting needle and dial 21 loops on the working knitting needle. Unfold the fabric and knit 8 rows with the main knit, while one edge of the last braid element will not be connected to the fabric, close all the loops of the row.
Step 3
Now weave a braid. To do this, connect the edges of the beginning of knitting with each other, you can even sew them. As a result, a loop will be obtained from the first element of the braid. Now insert your finger into this loop, hook the second braid element with it, pull it into the first loop (as when crocheting a chain of air loops). So continue to stretch through all the braids until you get to the last element that has one free edge. With this edge, grab the first loop of the braid, weave it as you go, and sew to close the ring. The braid for the hat is ready.
Step 4
If you need two braids, then knit them at once. To do this, cast on 18 more loops plus 3 edge loops to make 45 loops on the needles. Repeat the braids from the first row and, as described above, "weave" two braids. Now, from the edge loops, dial the required number of loops and alternately tie the top and the elastic of the cap.
