Whether you are shooting a movie with special effects, editing a home video, or an interesting video for friends and family, you may need to change the background of the video. It is easiest to remove the background from some objects in the video if the background is relatively uniform in color and lacks fine details. Removing the background from a video is easy, and you can do it in a variety of ways. One way is to use the ChromaKey technique, in which you simply make a color in the video transparent.
Instructions
Step 1
As mentioned above, to further remove the background from the video, you need to shoot the materials for the future video on a uniform background of the same color. Open the video in Sony Vegas and click on the Event FX button in the program menu. A window will appear in which you need to select the plug-in Sony Chroma Keyer.
Step 2
Then, to adjust the effect, in the Video Event FX window uncheck the Chroma Keyer item and select the eyedropper in the toolbar to take a copy of the color. Click with the eyedropper on a uniform background color in the video display window, and then check the Chroma Keyer box to enable the effect.
Step 3
In the settings window, then check the Show Mask Only option to switch to mask mode, and then use the sliders and move them to the right and left, adjust the effect so that the mask has the most black and white and the least gray shades.
Step 4
Adjust the Chroma Key parameters - the High Threshold value will set the upper value of the mask brightness, and the Low Threshold value will be used to set the mask brightness range.
Step 5
In the Blur Amount parameter, specify how much you need to process the edges of the mask in order to achieve the smoothest transition of the mask in the video. After you make all the settings, exit the mask mode by unchecking the corresponding box. Apply the effect to the video and the solid background disappears. You can set any other background behind the captured objects.
