The slider is part of a sophisticated modern clasp design. The zipper has imperceptibly become an indispensable companion of a modern person, because it allows you to quickly get dressed and better protects from the cold, unlike its counterparts. In the event of a malfunction, only a person with certain skills and a sewing machine can replace it completely. But do not rush to do this, in some cases the issue of laborious replacement of a whole zipper can be solved by an easily accomplished replacement of the slider.
It is necessary
The slider is the right size, pliers. Sewing thread, needle and scissors may be needed
Instructions
Step 1
It makes sense to consider the option of replacing the slider if your lock is large. If your lock is hidden, or small and thin, sewn in in order to button up trousers, a skirt, a blouse, you will not be able to change the slider. In this case, take the lock to the atelier, the cost of replacing it will not be high. If you are sure that a failed lock itself is unusable, change it immediately. You can try changing the slider, and if it doesn't help, then change the lock. The cost of changing the slider is low (especially if you do it yourself), but changing the lock with high quality and technology is an expensive procedure. It depends on the price of the castle, on its length, and also on the technology. So, decide on your tactics.
Step 2
Do not throw away the damaged slider. It contains the number by which you will select a new one. Remove it from the lock. To do this, do not "raskurochivat" the castle - it is needed whole. Unzip the lock completely so that the slider stays on one of its sides.
Step 3
If the lock has iron teeth, you need to gently bend the top stop of the lock on the side where the slider is left with the help of the available tools. Remember, after all the procedures, the restraint will need to be put back. This must be done so as not to damage the lock and the lock fabric.
Step 4
Remove the slider. It will slide off easily without a stopper.
Step 5
Go with a slider to the hardware department and ask for the same. If your lock is standard, and the number (size) is indicated on the slider, then there will be no problems with the purchase. If difficulties arise, all is not lost. Go to other departments with fittings, taking with you both the slider and the jacket - then there will be more chances to find the right slider.
Step 6
When you have the slider in one hand and the jacket in the other, insert the new slider in the same way you removed the old one. Try to fasten the lock. If everything fits together, and the lock is fastened, then there is one last step left. Put the iron fastener back and tighten it. If it can no longer be installed (a plastic lock, or an iron one, but broken), secure this side of the lock with threads. To do this, select the threads to match and make 3-5 inconspicuous stitches.
