Before you start sewing clothes, it is important to choose the right needle for your sewing machine. It must necessarily correspond to its size and quality of sharpening to a specific working material and thread. A suitable tool will not dull ahead of time, will not break; a neat line will lie on the canvas. For the machine to work without interruption, it is necessary to correctly insert the needle into the needle bar, and, if necessary, replace it with a new one in time.

It is necessary

  • - instructions for the sewing machine;
  • - a set of machine needles and threads of different numbers;
  • - glass plate;
  • - magnifying glass.

Instructions

Step 1

Carefully study the enclosed instructions for your sewing machine. If you have a good idea of the device (including the needle itself) and the sewing process, replacing the needle will not be a problem. Just stick to the manufacturer's requirements exactly.

Step 2

Please note: the sewing machine can be adjusted to a specific standard of needles (type 130 / 705H or others). If you use a non-standard tool, then it can simply break. If necessary, the device can be reset to a different standard with the help of an experienced technician.

Step 3

Check that the new needle matches the working thread in terms of thickness. To do this, take the tool with a long groove on top; place the thread in the groove and feel the surface of the blade. The thread should completely fill the groove, but not protrude above it! If such a protrusion is formed, you have chosen a needle that is too thin for the working thread.

Step 4

Check your machine manual - it often lists the needle numbers and corresponding threads (for example, thread # 80 will work with needle # 75, etc.). This will help you choose a quality sewing material.

Step 5

Once you have found a needle that matches the sewing machine setting and thread thickness, it is not time to insert it into the needle bar. Place the instrument on a glass surface and raise to eye level. If its shaft is evenly spaced along its entire length, then the needle can be used - it is not bent.

Step 6

Run the nail plate along the needle, starting from the bulb. You will immediately feel if the tip is slightly bent. A dull tip can also be detected with a magnifying glass - it will stand out with a white spot. You cannot use such a tool, otherwise you cannot avoid problems with machine sewing.

Step 7

Finally, insert the correct needle into the sewing machine. Remember to always face the needle thread guide when threading the needle bar. Usually on machines with a straight stitch, the thread is threaded from the left; with zigzag stitching - in front. If you are new to the machine, refer to the diagram in the instructions - otherwise, you can break the shuttle mechanism.

Step 8

To put the needle in the machine, raise the needle bar to the up position and loosen the needle clamp screw. You will see a groove for installing the needle - it resembles the letter "P". Place the flat of the needle (this is a cut on the thickened part) to the bottom of the groove; the needle should enter the needle bar through the needle holder. It must be inserted upwards until it stops! Fix the new needle securely with the retaining screw.
